Tapestry Design Basics and Beyond: Planning and Weaving with Confidence

This is a beautiful book and for an artist or student wanting inspiration it is great, unfortunately for me it was waaaay over my head and I reluctantly returned it.

What a beautiful book! I'm really impressed. If you do tapestry type weaving - this is the perfect book! Lots of colour photos of designs as well as step by step guide. Very informative and a good instructions. Well written design fundamentals, how to start guide as well as weaving basics. What I love is the author included many photos of beautiful tapestries done by others. This gives you ideas and inspirations. You can see a modern take on an old world craft and skill. The least thing I like is the spiral binding - but this doesn't bother me much. This book is for tapestry weavers of all levels. As a intermediate level weaver - this book is my favourite so far.

This topic isn’t covered by any other source and it’s extremely important for tapestry weavers. This was a very much needed book for the tapestry community and it’s covered in such extensive detail. It thoroughly detailed with tons of ideas and so many different angels. The pictures are beautiful and are very clear references connected to what’s being discussed in the paragraph. This was my main struggle and I really needed it and I continue to reference it each time I’m designing.

I love this book, it was exactly what I was hoping it would be. The tapestry world desperately needed a book like this. I will say, I'm not a fan of the binding. Being spiral bound, I can't use a regular bookmark. I'll have to find one that goes over the page like a clip. I also have a toddler and my reading time is during naps. The pages turning are so loud on the spirals, I can't read this while my boy is napping! But those are just my own personal preferences and have no bearing on the quality of the book overall, so I'm still happy to give full stars for it. If it is ever offered bound like a usual book I will be thrilled to buy it again!
