Honestly, just like new! I loved the one we had, but the gear stopped working. We could hear it move, but nothing was happening. I was really annoyed with lifting the lid myself, especially when you have things in your hands, so I logged into Amazon and started hunting. This replacement lid is PERFECT! It works just like the original and fits the trash can just a snug as before. I have two of these beauties, and I know where to go when my "Recycle" lid decides to quit. This was a great buy!

I bought this can and loved it! Then the lid stopped opening because the internal lever that opens and closes the lid snapped (plastic). It was not abused, it was not forced closed or anything, it just failed. So, I bought a replacement lid. It lasted 1 1/2 years, then the same lever snapped again. I was the only one home at the time so I know for a fact that it was not user error. Too bad that the lid seems to be designed to fail so you have to repeatedly replace the lid. If buying new, I'd try a different brand. PS. I called their customer service line but didn't get anywhere.

Get this! I was looking for a hands free trash can that was stainless steel so it matches my kitchen. I tdidn't want a huge one, because I didn't want it to take up a lot of space. I found this one and my brother highly recommended it. It holds a good amount of trash, I just put the white plastic kitchen garbage bag into it. It has a plastic ring that holds it in place, which makes it easy to remove and replace the bag. It does take 4 D cell batteries ( so order them at the same time!), It functions well, and it runs pretty quietly, so the lid opening and closing doesn't wake my hubby when he falls asleep to the tv lol, One of the nice things is that it has an odor control filter in it, so it helps to stop the stank, in the summer heat, things go bad quickly! I think it's a really good value for the money and I am thrilled I got this.

We replaced an item we already had for three years that no longer worked. . The replacement had a slight dent which surprised us as it was packaged very well. That is the reason for not giving this item five stars. We decided to not return the item as it was not significant enough to go through the return process. Other than that, we are very satisfied with the item.

Love this garbage can! I already owned one that I bought at least 7 years ago. Recently the top stopped working and I tried writing to Itouch customer service's chat line. No response at all. How disappointing! I read all I could and tried all the suggested ideas from their website but came to the conclusion that the lid is dead. :( So I found that Amazon was the best place to buy either a whole new can and top or just the top. Price was right to buy the top. After all, the bottom has held up quite well. I am so happy to have my "wave" garbage can again. It is easy to use when hands are full of food scraps etc. Truthfully my ex threw out the "ring" that held the garbage bags in and I haven't had one in years so I figure I will save the $26 and not buy another one. Great size can for my smaller kitchen and so easy to use. I missed you my automated garbage can and now I have you back!! Life is good!!

I use this trash can as a recycle bin in a tall kitchen cabinet. The sensor works OK but you have to pause just a split second while you wait for the lid to open. This can is really good if you have a phobia for touching lids; other than that I cannot recommend this as a main trash can in the kitchen because the automatic lid is gimmicky at best. The lid opens in less than a second with a quiet whir like a remote controlled toy car and shuts with a thud. It's a bit on the cheesy robotic side so I wouldn't put this out in my kitchen as the main trash can (I bought a Simplehuman 13-gallon stainless steel can for that). My only gripe is the can should have an option of opening well by hand and not relying always on the battery/power source. November 19, 2013 update - I upgraded my rating to 5 stars. This can lasted nearly 4 years until the sensor started to malfunction - it wouldn't open unless my hand remained in place for 3 seconds near the sensor (typically it only takes 1/2 second). I decided to buy a replacement can which surprisingly had updated features and was $25 cheaper than 4 years ago. The last inch of travel when the lid closes is more gentle and there is no more thud I mentioned above. The overall operation of the motor is quieter. The bottom of the can includes air holes to make pulling out the bag liner easier. There is also a activated charcoal filter located in the top. I don't need this feature because only paper / plastic recyclables go in this can but it is a nice touch. Still highly recommended as an auxiliary recyclable bin located in a tall kitchen cabinet. Still not recommended as a main kitchen trash can unless you really want to avoid touching trash can lids.

Had to search carefully to place a bin with this size in my kitchen, matched the specs, size and also, I like how durable are the battery life (which requires 3 DD batteries FYI). It also has the feature to connect it directly to the power outlet which is great in case you won't like to use batteries.

This garbage can works phenomenally well, and the shape is perfect. Since we have to sort our garbage three ways, i.e. garbage-recycling-consignment, I can put three cans in the place that only two round ones would fit. I bought the plug-in adaptor, so I never have to worry about discarding batteries. They are also easy to clean.
