Great price for an extremely handy tool
So far, I've only used the saw blade and scraper blade. With a saw blade, this tool is very good for making precise cuts and for blind cutting. While it doesn't cut as fast as a circular or reciprocating saw, it is far more controllable. It can fit in tight spaces and is unlikely to cut anything you don't want cut. Unlike a reciprocating saw, it can cut without a starter hole and without starting at an edge. The scraper blade works well for cutting various materials, including carpet and carpet foam. I haven't yet used it as intended. I purchased this tool in late October 2011, and it came with an accessory adapter, which isn't mentioned in the product description. According to the manual, this adapter "allows the tool to be used with accessories for Fein, Bosch, Rockwell, and Dremel" tools. I also purchased "Versa-Tool MB3B" blades, Versa-Tool MB3B 1-3/8-Inch Bi-Metal Universal Oscillating Saw Blade, 3 Pack They fit without the adapter (note, they look like txmom1's picture, rather than like the amazon pic). Before I bought this tool, I carefully looked through the reviews for this and for the replacement saw blades. It seems that people who leave poor reviews complain about one of two things: blade life, and the power switch. The switch doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd like it to, but I have not had trouble with it in the two months I've had it. On to blade life. The vast majority of saw blades are *not* intended for cutting steel, even if they say they can cut metal. Also, "bi-metal" describes the blade composition, not what the blade can cut! The nature of this type of saw means that the blades heat a lot and aren't exposed to air to cool them down. If you want your blades to last, frequently pull them out of the cut and allow them to cool off, especially if they start smoking. I've hit several nails, and have yet to ruin a blade. If you hit a nail or if the blade stops cutting easily, it can be sharpened in the same way that a hand saw can be - using a triangular file at two angles. Continuing to use a dull blade will heat it to the point that it loses its temper, and sharpening can't help that. Things I dislike: the switch, and the noise. The switch works fine for me, but I'd prefer a trigger-style switch like on a circular saw. As for noise, I'm pretty sure any other oscillating saw will be just as noisy - the noise comes from the cutting action, not the motor or gears. I think the only way to fix that would be to make the saw operate at a frequency above the range of human hearing. If you use this type of saw occupationally, you'll definitely need ear protection.

My new favorite tool!
I've had this tool for a week and have used it on two pretty big projects already, so I think I'm ready to review it. I was working on trying to redo the caulk in a large walk-in tiled shower and had spent days trying to scrape off old caulk, but there were three pretty large sections I could not get off no matter what I tried; goo gone, 6 in one scraper and my Dremel (another favorite tool!) With brush attachments on it and nothing would remove the caulk. I broke down and bought this (I really hate how projects balloon into needing something else to get it done) because it was inexpensive and came with a scraper blade. Bingo! This saw did the trick. In 15 minutes it removed what days of elbow grease and other tools couldn't. I was madly in love immediately. ;) Then yesterday, I'm standing in my kitchen, minding my own business, and hear my lazy Susan drop inside the corner cabinet... Ugh. Another project. I spent hours getting everything back to where it would rotate, but no adjustment I made would stop the corner door from hitting the frame (this is a rev-a-shelf lazy susan) so I quit for the day to plan my next move. Last night it hit me - oscillating saw! I decided to trim the bottom of the stinkin' doors. I wanted to trim off about 1/8"-1/4" and make sure the door would never rub on the frame again. Since the Genesis came with a wood cutting blade, I decided to go for it. I have old Merrilat 1970s solid oak cabinets that are hard as rocks (I've burned up drill bits trying to drill into them! Not hyperbole) and knew it would be slow going, but it only took me 15 minutes on each side of the corner door (while still hanging in the cabinet) to get it done. I took my time and let the tool do the work because that was the only wood cutting blade I had and it did a wonderful, fantastic job! I then used the handy dandy sanding attachment to sand down the edges and used my incredible stain marker to stain the edges and no one would ever know I cut the door....see my pic. I now have a lazy susan cabinet that works better than ever. This saw is so versatile and is fun to use. It's not heavy at all (64 year old female) and had plenty of power to do what I needed it to do. I can see the possibilities being endless. If you're on the fence on this, I'm telling you from experience, it's worth every cent. Just buy it! August 22, 2019 edit: I am installing a commercial aluminum garage door threshold in my garage. You have to order a size closest to your garage door, but wider so you can cut it to fit exactly to what you need. I had to trim off 3.5" on mine and used a combination of my oscillating saw and a hack saw. I used the segmented blade that came with the saw and got down as far as I could with it and finished off with the hack saw. This saw was pretty darn incredible because the threshold is pretty thick in spots and the blade cut it. Slow going, but it worked and gave me a nice clean cut with very little filing needed. That's three pretty big jobs this thing handled, so I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy it!

Good bang for the buck......
For a while now I have been wondering if I would use a tool of this sort enough to justify the cost of buying one. I finally decided to bite the bullet and put one of these in my home workshop. I couldn't justify paying a lot maybe for a top brand but after reading a lot of reviews on here, I decided to go with the Genesis GMT 15A Multi-Purpose Oscillating Tool and after a couple of uses, I am happy with this tool. It probably paid for itself with my first project of replacing an old rotted out window sill. Worked like a charm. As a first time user, there was a bit of a learning curve but once I got the hang of it, I couldn't be more pleased with the results. It did tend to heat up a bit but part of that was on me. Once I stopped forcing it and just let the blade do the cutting things went more smoothly. I will say that when I was using a wood blade, I ran into a nail that I was unaware of. Yeah don't do that cause it will destroy that blade in a second. So be careful with that. There is a metal blade that comes with it and it performed well for small stuff like nails. Used correctly the blades will perform better than some of the reviews here. There also is a universal attachment that is provided with this that will accommodate other brands of blades. I have used this a few times now and I really have no complaints at all. For the professionals out there I realize that I don't have anything to compare this to and I am sure there are better brands with better blades but for me and for the DIY once a month guy, this might not be a bad way to go. For the price, I wouldn't know where you could do better.

These are amazing. I love it. I don't know how I would have been able to complete my kitchen renovation without it. If you need to do any kind of lateral cuts where rotary tools just don't cut it (sorry for the pun), oscillating tools are indispensable. This particular model is loud but reliable. Survived a kitchen reno and much more! I like the steel case on the head of the tool and the mounting area seems very sturdy. The tool is quite large and at least feels good quality. Would buy again.

Bought to help cut through some rotted deck boards so the rotten parts could be replaced. Worked fine, if maybe a little underpowered for my task. It's totally basic, but it gets the job done. Got a little hot working out in the sun all day and made me a little worried that I was going to blow the motor, but lasted all day through a lot of use and abuse.
