Shimano XTR CN-M9100 XTR Chain, with Quick Link, 12-Speed, 126L, SIL-TEC

The XTR chain is lighter than the standard 105 12-speed chain and seems so much quieter. Certainly worth a few extra bucks to go with this chain, and it's also cheaper than a new cassette and new chainrings. If you are wondering if your chain needs to be replaced, it probably does. Just do it!

This is one of the best chains on the market today if you have Shimano components. At the time I replaced my chain, I had over 600 miles on the old one and there was quite a bit of stretch in it. It was a Shimano SLX-level chain. This XTR chain is much lighter than the one that came on my bike and shifts like a breeze (very smoothly). The chain was relatively easy to install (since I grew up working in a bike shop when I was young). However, if you don’t have the tools or the experience, you’re probably better off having a local bike shop install the chain for you. I’m quite happy with the performance of this chain.

Shipped from UK for free. Arrived two weeks early in califoria. OEM chain not a knockoff from what I can tell. I was scammed on ebay in the past. Shifts smoothly. I didnt wax it before use and it's been fine. I think it came with some oil and wax on it because it was slick from the box. So far so good, I will clean it and wax it soon, it has picked up a small amount of grime and dirt in one month of use (see picture). My knockoff chain lasted about a year and a half but snapped three times and started rusting. I will update this one in a year.

Ho approfittato di un costo d'acquisto nettamente vantaggioso rispetto a quanto abitualmente devo sostenere presso il meccanico di fiducia, il costo molto competitivo offerto da Amazon mi ha portato all'acquisto di ben tre catene in un unico ordine e ricevendo il tutto in pochi giorni come ben aspettavo. Le catene ricevute sono completante nuove, confezionate nella confezione cartonata originale Shimano e comprendono la falsa maglia, detto quanto consiglio all'apertura della confezione di verificare bene nel fondo della confezione perché la falsa maglia è presente ed è imbustata separata dalla catena (anche quest'ultima è all'interno di una busta sigillata! Non sono rimasto deluso dell'acquisto perché questa catena è il top di gamma di casa Shimano, aldilà che non disdegno l'utilizzo di varianti "inferiori" quale CN M8100 e percorrenza media di 5.000/6.000 km sulle bici da corsa a pedalata muscolare, la sostituzione avviene sempre per minimo allungamento (0.75 mm utilizzando l'apposito calibro di verifica), meno con quella a pedalata assistita che comunque si attesta in un chilometraggio entro i 3.000 km. Tipologia di catena perfettamente compatibile per cambio a 12V (NON idonea per 11V) ed ulteriormente per le E-Bike senza alcun problema durante la pedalata, nessuna rumorosità fastidiosa o salto di catena durante la pedalata, ovviamente il corretto funzionamento è dovuto alla corretta lunghezza della catena (senz'altro necessario accorciarla di qualche maglia utilizzando lo smaglia catena), mantenerla costantemente pulita e lubrificata quel tanto necessario. Banalmente consiglio di non utilizzare grasso bianco per lubrificarla, pratica quest'ultima abominevole vista fare realmente da alcuni meccanici di biciclette e da evitare perché non fa altro che attirare pulviscolo e sporcizia peggiorando la durata della catena e ovviamente peggiorando anche il funzionamento; utilizzate solo olio liquido 4Wd concepito per catene applicando una goccia su una ventina di pin delle maglia della catena (l'olio si distribuisce facendolo girare alcune volte la catena), anche in questo caso non impasticciate la catena di olio! Personalmente con queste tre catene posso fare tranquillamente 18.000 km (una singola stagione di attività) per il prossimo anno a venire e considerando che ho buona pratica per la manutenzione di base sono più che soddisfatto del rapporto qualità/costo d'acquisto finale.

I use this chain on Haibike Trekking ebike for around 6 months. So far this is the longest lasting chain I used. Still strong, smooth and no issues. (regularly lubricating and cleaning) Shifting feels good and chain feels solid even with ebike power. For durability and quality very happy with it. Worth the price.
