Plays very good. Great value for a well built and functional flugelhorn.
This lightweight, low mass flugelhorn plays smoothly and with a rich sound. Although the timbre of a brass horn is slightly different than this instrument, until now there has been nothing to compare it to. So with that being said, I am very satisfied with this flugelhorn. I also own a brass flugelhorn, several cornets, trumpets and other brass instruments. The only other non-metallic instrument I've played would be a fiberglass sousaphone. And it played fine. Plastic is here to stay! I hope to see more from Tromba!

Not A Bad Instrument For Something Made From Plastic
So "Santa" got me this flugelhorn for Christmas this year since I had always wanted my own Flugelhorn but wasn't about to fork over my wallet in return. This horn intrigued me 1. Because the price was reasonable enough and 2. The quality of the instrument looked reasonable as well. Since playing it for about 10-15 minutes, the valves are a little stiff and definitely need to be oiled. As you'll see in the video, it sounds better in the lower range than in the higher range. The quality is pretty impressive for something that's made out of plastic. The only downside is that I thought it would be gold, but somehow I got the silver version which I can't complain too much about. Overall, I give it a 3.5/5 as of now.

This horn will break quickly
the horn came cracked and needed a lot of blue juice for the 3rd piston to move normally. after a few hours of playing it was clear that I needed to return it because there was a crack on the 2nd piston cover that would soon make the instrument unplayable. The horn sounded decent other than some intonation issues but that will vary from each player.

Not quite a flugel yet
Sounds almost like a flugel. But, intonation is more than a bit off. G on top of staff is too flat to lip up. The " blow" is difficult. The horn doesn't respond quickly. I like some resistance, but not this much. I've only play tested it for an hour, but it wore me out. The price makes it attractive, but I'm pretty sure that it's going back. dr d

Great Lil'horn
This is a great little horn. Nice and lightweight, good tone and great appearance. The valves are a little sluggish at first but after a bit of lubrication they lighten up nicely. The valves don't index like a normal brass horn and seems block the air flow if in wrong, but if you turn the valve 180 degrees they will line up perfectly and is perfectly playable. The mouth piece that is supplied with the horn is a nice deep and straight walled. It came with a gig bag case and has two extra sets of buttons for the valves. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised with the horn being of plastic construction and a very good value for the price. This would be a great purchase for parents not knowing if their child will stick with music and would be a good alternative to a rental instrument. After showing the horn to my neighbor who is a retired music educator of over 50 years he was very impressed and asked if I would order him one. He played in the Army band and is proficient on various instruments. No problems with his horn or mine. The slides are a little stiff initially but can be greased up like any brass horn and they loosen up. After several months the top of the 1st valve separated. This portion holds the button stem in place, which holds the valve spring in. Waiting on a response for a fix from Tromba

Works fantastic - straight out of the box
Amazing value!. I just cleaned the values due to manufacturing oil. I then put some high speed Cass valve oil on each valve. I clean/ sanitize the provided mouthpiece with a vinegar and water solution just for peace of mind. I put it all together and Wow! Ripped off some great sounding jazz licks just like that. I really amazed since my other horn is a B&S MBX3 Herritage. I mean this is plastic and cost $159, the other is brass and cost $3000. I dunno?......

It is a novelty and plays easily, but I had trouble initially getting the valves freed up and not sticking. Now, after a year of toying with using it in a Christmas production, I was one day away when the cap holding one of the valves cracked, and the valve does not stay far enough down in the chamber to play. I cannot find any resource for getting a replacement for the valve cap.
