Improvement over F mount version
I was a longtime user of the F mount version of this lens (G version) for DSLR and adapted to Z mount. Finally decided to purchase this 14-24 2.8 S for my Z9. It's a wonderful lens... sharp... easy to use. A bit bulkier in size, although it might be lighter, than the original version. I'm glad for the addition of the filter ring (part of one of the two hoods). It takes longer to put the oversize cap on it compared to the F mount version because this one has to be lined up to a specific point. It seems odd, though it makes sense, to have two different lens caps and two different hoods for this. The filter size is massive for the front, larger hood. The lens also accepts smaller gel filters in the back, but few companies make ones for it... most have their own drop-in filter system that you have to remove part of the back of the lens to install. I'm not sure I want to do that, but it might be the more economical way to deal with ND filters on here for super long light traces or astrophotography work. You still need to use the front for a circular polarizer. I registered mine with Nikon and with NPS and it came with full USA warranty.

A Lens with Surprisingly Broad Application
The Nikon f 2.8 14-24 Z lens is a marvel. It has a wide lens which creates the impression it is heavy and lengthy. In fact, the lens is surprisingly light and its barrel length is of medium size. For panoramas it is exquisite, but it has far more application than just that. As a tourist, I find there are church interiors, exteriors of structures of all sorts, and street scenes which don't suggest panorama the way a mountain range or seascape might where the 14-24mm's lateral coverage makes for a most interesting and effective coverage of the scene. The f2.8 also provides beautiful pictures in low light. All and all, the lens is exceptional, and when I am in tourist mode, it is always in my camera backpack.

Excellent value for wide angle shooting on Nikon Z cameras.
What a wonderful lens. This is really enhancing my wide angle photography. It’s half as much money as the Nikon z 14-24mm S, and almost as good. For an amateur like me, f/4 is more than enough as I use it outside. Architectural photographers will go for the more expensive 14-24mm for obvious reasons.

Unmatched Sharpness and Low-Light Performance — Worth Every Penny
This lens is simply fantastic! The Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S is sharp from corner to corner, delivering crystal-clear images that truly stand out. Its performance in low light is exceptional — the f/2.8 aperture lets you shoot in challenging conditions with confidence. I recently took this lens to Egypt and photographed inside some of the tombs, where light is limited. It handled the low light beautifully, capturing stunning details without losing sharpness or clarity. It's also perfect for landscapes, indoor photography, and astrophotography — essentially anything that requires a wide field of view. Yes, it's expensive and a bit heavy for travel, but you absolutely get what you pay for. The image quality and reliability are well worth the investment. If you want the best in its class, this is it.

Brilliant lens. The one I use the most.
An amazing lens. If you use wide for effect, the focal range is a heck of a tool. It’s all you would expect from the S series, this being the top in its range. I run it without a filter and clean it off, when in the field, with my shirt. I have that much confidence in the lens coating. This is an exception, of course, to the basic rule of thumb but that’s why I bring it up. I don’t like zoom lenses but simply cannot change lenses on the fly (most specifically swapping the 20 for the 24.

Absolutely outstanding lens, and you pay for it
This lens absolutely owns the sky. Of course it excels at every other wide angle task, but the sky, the stars, the moon, the auroras... And it's SO sharp, even wide open and all the way to the edges. This lens captures not only what you can see with your eyes wide open all the way across the sky, but it captures more than what you can see: You will capture stars and constellations that you didn't even know were there. It's also great for capturing the WHOLE show at concerts, weddings, conferences, etc. Of course I have to complain about the price, but it really does pay for itself if you do your part. It would also be great to get just a little more range out of the zoom, say to 30mm like the f4 Z does, but I get it, the laws of physics are hard to break and you have to give some to get f2.8. Be ready for the size - it's BIG. It does make it a bit cumbersome to pack and handle, and the filters are outrageously expensive as well. This lens deserves a 10-star rating just based on image quality, but it's not THAT much better than the 14-30 that costs half as much, so I have to nick a star for value. Get this lens if you can afford it, but if you can't, then you will be absolutely thrilled with the much handier and nearly as capable 14-30mm F4. In fact, even if you can afford it, you still might consider a 14-30 and 24-120 bundle just because they are so much handier, and those two lenses together will set you back what just this one does. You also won't shy away from really getting out there with the cheaper lenses - I'm absolutely terrified I'll damage the big 14-24 while stumbling around at night. Also, you can spend the money you saved by avoiding the 24-70 to get a second body or splurge on the 70-200 f2.8.

Outstanding Lens
Believe the hype! This S series lens is everything Nikon said it would be. Its lightweight, fast and sharp. It handles glare and tricky lighting situations better than any other lens I've ever owned, aside from my 2 other S series lenses. I'm a professional photographer and put my gear through some pretty grueling activities, and this lens just takes the beating and keeps on going. It's a little pricy, but once you use it, you'll understand why. I recommend this product to anyone that wants a lens that can deliver in any lighting situation and gives results that rival prime lenses. I'm glad I made this purchase.

I’ve been a photographer for 36 years and this is the best non-prime lens I’ve ever used. Adding a polarizer takes it to another level.

High quality and incredibly sharp on the Nikon Z7II. Feels sturdy and well built, would definitely suit the landscape photographer or someone wanting the best of the best.
