School Zone Big Math 1-2 Workbook: 320 Pages, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, Elementary Math, Addition, Subtraction, Word Problems, Time, Money, Fractions, Ages 6 to 8 Review: Covers EVERYTHING a kid this age needs to know and gets them ready for more advanced math - I homeschool. I do Saxon Math for the older grades, but THIS workbook is PERFECT for the advanced/older kindergartner through a kind of behind second grader. It is SUPER cute. I LOVE the fun illustrations. It covers ALL the math info a kid would need in that age range. My 8-year-old daughter is really smart. But I pulled her out of kindergarten a few years ago. And she was really stubborn with me and didn't do what I asked. She played A LOT. Some people think it's great to let kids play in that age range, anyway. So, now that I am MAKING my kids sit down and do their assignments, I have found that she doesn't know her very basic math facts, even. She is about a K-1st grade level in math. She loves this book. My son younger than her is advanced for his age and he also loves working out of this book. He is in 1st grade now. This book covers everything they need to get them ready to start working out of the "Saxon Math Intermediate, Grade 3" text book. I use the one with the picture of the bicycle on the front cover. When the child is finished with that one, then go directly into "Saxon Math 5/4." When the child is done with that book, he is ready to go straight into the "Saxon Math Algebra 1" book. Or, your smart third grader can just start right at Saxon Math 5/4. Then for 5th grade, he can do Math 8/7. THEN go right into Algebra 1 the next year. Edit: Today is July 5th 2020. I still love these books. But I put my kids directly into the old Saxon Math 5/4 textbook when they graduate from this workbook. I also have my kids practice math facts at: w w w dot xtramath dot com. Review: Great workbook - Great math workbook! My daughter loves to do math because of it's fun activities. She has fun while learning.

Highly recommended
I highly recommended this book so much. Little different way of filling up the gap of your child's knowledge. Though their app is not the best supplement ( not support android, only ipad), book itself is good way to boost your child's confidence in Math.

Turns math into a FUN activity book
This is to supplement my daughter's schoolwork because her kindergarten assigned book is not challenging enough. I like that the types of math exercises alternate throughout the book, so not all of the charts are lumped together or the mazes or the connect-the-dots. I had a difficult time finding a math workbook that looked "fun". This one has puzzles, mazes, connect-the-dots, coloring pages, along with the traditional fill-in-the-blank math problems. The workbook is massive, plenty of stuff to pick from. There are clear visuals and memory aids throughout the book. It starts with associating numbers to their appropriate quantities and ends with some simple multiplication. Some pages can take a minute or two and some can take a half hour, which is nice for when your child's attention span is fleeting that day. Just the other day, I saw my daughter's preschool/daycare using the same workbook. I'm glad I spent the extra time to look at reviews-this workbook is awesome!

Great book, touches all the basics.
I am homeschooling my first grader this year. We are 50 pages into this book and I am loving the pacing and I am excited to move on to different kinds of math (money, time, fractions, multiplication). This book is so thick, it provides a lot of practice with the skills presented. We are supplementing with videos and I will be buying another book on said skills to continue practicing them them once we finish this book.

Homeschool Must Have!
I love these books so much. It’s an affordable way to homeschool your child. They are interactive and fun for my 5 year old. I will say, I don’t know if my child is just ahead of the curve but, she is a kindergartner on a first grade level in these books. I had returned the Kindergarten book for “Big Reading”, “Big Math”, “Big Spelling” etc. which is said to be on an 1-2 grade level. They fit her skill level much better. It is a great “problem” to have 😄 I considered getting the comprehensive 1st grader book from this line but decided to try that from a different brand. These help supplement it wonderfully. I will recommend to other first time homeschool moms and I will buy the following books in this series.

Very well organized, and with fun
This work book is very well organized and gives a lot of beginner level math practice. My 4 year old loved it, and just recently finished it. I wish I could find a step up Math workbook from Schoolzone. This workbook covers counting, addition (1-20), subtraction (1-20), introductory fractions, time and money, introductory multiplication, easy level word problems, introductory line graphs, pictographs, introductory concept of place value, addition and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers and other introductory math. It gradually builds up the math concepts. My son loved the riddles problems. The only con I faced was in some of the pages, there were an overwhelming amount of math questions for my 4 year old, specially the addition and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers. But we still made it. I understand that the later section of this book is designed for a 6-8 year old student who is in a phase of completing his/her 1st grade and beginning of his/her 2nd grade, and this section of the book would be appropriate for him/her (in a general sense). I would highly recommend this book, one of the best workbook I got for my son.
