Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination

First I must say that I have been somewhat of a collector of NCLEX prep books since I started toward my RN degree. I have multiple prep books and flashcards including Saunders, Lippincott's, Hogan, Mosby's, and several from the 'Made Insanely Easy Series'. After graduation, I did Hurst review and found Hurst to be extremely helpful in reviewing content from nursing school. HOWEVER, Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment was a game changer for my NCLEX prep! This book is EXCELLENT and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who has NCLEX in their future. I took NCLEX last week. The test shut off at 75 questions, and found out the next day that I passed :) I was so nervous about the dreaded NCLEX! However, I actually thought it was pretty easy after it was all said and done. I left the testing center feeling like I passed and I was so happy and relieved! The majority of my questions were prioritization of care and I thought this book helped me soooo much to be able to assess and critically think to analyze the situation(s) to select 'The Best' answer(s). This entire book is about critically thinking and assessing patient care needs. The chapters are very short (3-4 pages), which keep it very manageable to do one chapter a day or more if you want. There are also several case studies/scenarios with questions too. NCLEX wants to know that you are safe to practice. This book will give you the mindset to do just that. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would...and knowing what I know now, if I could only use one tool to help me study and prep for NCLEX, it would be Prioritization, Delegration, and Assignment...hands down.

The book arrived promptly and in great condition. I used this book to fine tune my knowledge in preparation for the NCLEX examination. IlMy exam only lasted 35 minutes and I passed with 97 questions. I can attribute my success to using this book as a supplemental exercise study guide. Many NCLEX review programs are filled with great crucial information but this book helps strengthen your critical thinking skills and helps in the development quick accurate decision making skills. Prioritization, delegation and time management are key elements in passing the boards and in live settings. I highly recommend it!

This book was great prep for the NCLEX, which I took 5/24/17 and passed in 75 questions! The rationales were great with a lot of questions like you'll see on the NCLEX: which patients to see first, skills/patients to delegate to UAPs and LPNs. I liked this better than Kaplan, which I found to have terrible rationales and takes a lot of time to get through. I heard lots of good things too about Uworld, but didn't want to spend $80. This book though is worth every penny of the $22 I spent on it, and is a good prep tool if you're short on time!

Initially I purchased the 2nd edition of this book, but realized that some of the chapters were updated and that I would have access to the online material, so I purchased it. The questions are extremely helpful for the NCLEX PDA questions, but also SATA (select all that apply) too. The book also has case studies that really help you critically think about the situations. However, the online material includes the same questions (including the case studies) that are in the book. If you prefer to not have the physical book, you can purchase the online questions for around $20. This helps you gain practice of taking a computerized test. They have two modes, exam mode and study mode. You can also test yourself based on the chapters, concepts, QSEN competencies, etc. I gave this only 4 stars because although it is an excellent book, it would've been better to see additional questions available online rather than the same questions that are in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking the NCLEX. It is extremely helpful and includes the rationales for each question. But, like I said, if you don't have to have the physical book, it really isn't necessary since all the material is available for a decent price online on the evolve website.

After graduating nursing school, I decided not to pay for a prep course but instead purchased this book, the Saunders Comprehensive Review, and the Kaplan book. I stopped in the middle of Kaplan because the questions were just too closely tied to the book's very limited content review and I knew more would be expected on the NCLEX. Saunders offered a very thorough review of content, but the practice questions were obviously too simple. This book was BY FAR the BEST practice for the actual exam; I passed at 75 questions. I went through the entire LaCharity text over the course of about four days just before my test date, and during the exam, I breezed through the prioritization, delegation, and assignment questions. Please, do yourself a favor and get this text.

I went through the entire book, answering all the questions and studying the rationales and I found it extremely helpful. We didn't cover delegation and prioritization to this extent in nursing school. I didn't see but maybe one or two delegation questions on NCLEX and passed with 75 questions and from everything I've read about NCLEX, if you only get one or two questions on a topic, it's because you aced that topic; for that, I give credit to this book. I broke up working through the book into three days although five days would have been a more comfortable pace, and I was able to retain the information well. Again, I highly recommend this book.

This book was awesome when it came to preparing for NCLEX! One of the top areas of NCLEX is prioritization and I wanted to make sure I was doing well in that area so I decided to use this book to supplement my prep along with Kaplan and Lippincott's NCLEX-RN Alternate-Fromat book. I was doing just OK on the prioritization section but wanted to feel way more confident and this book did it. I did the chapters in the first half of the book and not the case studies. After completing the first two chapters my prioritization scores in Kaplan increased a lot. This book had questions with information that was pertinent to NCLEX. The answer explanations were pretty good for the most part but there were a few where I wish they would have expanded a little more. Overall this book was great and I passed NCLEX with 75 questions (a lot were prioritization).

This book was a significant part of my study effort to pass the NCLEX-RN. Caution: It is not the only thing I did, I did Hurst live, Kaplan live and ALL questions/tests BUT this was the BEST training for SATA and prioritization questions. While this book has a few glitches it was worth more to me than what I paid, in other words worth every penny and then some. I passed in 75 questions (but like most folks I walked out thinking I failed). I did all 21 Chapters and 21 case studies twice. I recommend this book with zero reservations. It was an indispensable asset for me!
