Eliminates the “wobble”
I bought this because my bike and kayak racks wobble in the receiver hitch. This extension gets them out and away from my vehicle and RV surfaces and with the U bolt and plate, it is solid. Tighten the keeper bolt on top, and everything is like it was welded on. Very happy with this.

Didn’t work for our setup — too wobbly and unsafe
The quality of the TOPTOW hitch extender seems decent overall. We bought it to attach a Tilt Away bike rack to our Jeep Wrangler. Unfortunately, when everything was connected, the entire setup turned out to be very wobbly and unstable — definitely not safe to use on the road. The extender just didn’t provide a secure fit, and the whole thing felt unreliable. It might work better with other vehicles or racks, but in our case, we had to return it because it simply wasn’t usable.

Great value and a very sturdy product.
I bought this for my Sprinter van because I added a rear spare tire carrier and needed to push out my hitch mounted bike rack a few inches. This extender was easy to install and the stabilizing piece keeps the whole bike rack sturdy and doesn't wobble. 100% would buy this again.

Not impressed - Returned
This ws not the quality I thought it would be, it was noisy and I didn't feel the craftsmanship would hold up over time. I didn't feel it was stable and the welding points were visible and one time I feared it would break. For this reason I returned it.

Works great and got my rack far enough back to still open my gate for access.
