Well constructed. Brass insert in lid tarnished. No instructions. Good thing Amazon had pictures to deduce access to hidden compartment.

Very poorly made. "hidden compartment" is the most obvious part about the box. The compartment is also very hard to get open and it doesn't come out more than maybe an inch, if that, without having to pull pretty hard. This is not worth your money. The hinged lid doesn't close properly without you moving it to go over the peg in the side. If you don't want people getting into the secret compartment, fear not, because not even you will be able to open it!

We bought these boxes for giving each member of our family money for Christmas. We did have to polish them because the brass was tarnished. Everyone loved how pretty they were and several said these boxes would set out on their desk.

It was super easy to open. Costs more than most. It is a very nice box but looks like it is for older kids or adults but my grandsons had it open way too soon. Not much fun value for older teens or adults

Watching someone figure out the puzzle to retrieve the gift was the best part. Poor quality woodwork, latch pin didnt line up so they bent it to make it work. The lid will not close all the way. The puzzle rod was also way off so makes it a chore to get closed. I would purchase again if it was cheaper but other than watching someone try to figure it out the product is useless as what it appears to be since you have to pick it up with both hands to pry it open or close it.

Do not recommend! Secret drawer would not open. Had to pry it open and damaged the box. I had bought 2 for my granddaughters and neither drawer could be opened. Waste of money. Since the boxes were damaged in trying to open did not return.

The wood is finely sanded and polished. This is a quality box. It's a 3 step puzzle so you can be sure anyone can solve it. It made a great gift (we put cash inside it.) 😁

With the brass inlay and rich(ish) looking wood this box is pretty nice looking at a glance. But two things to keep in mind: 1. This is not a puzzle box. You open the "secret" drawer by pulling out a rather obvious pin when the box is open. 2. This thing is not very well put together. The same pin you pull out often interferes with the lid closing since it doesn't line up with the hole very well. If you're looking for a box with a secret compartment then keep looking because the depth of the box makes it extremely obvious that there is a hidden compartment below.
