Garmin Striker Cast, Castable Sonar with GPS, Pair with Mobile Device and Cast from Anywhere, Reel in to Locate and Display Fish on Smartphone or Tablet (010-02246-02)

The Garmin Striker Cast does not do everything but what it is designed and advertised to do, it does it well. I wanted something I could use from a kayak and did not require mounting anything, or needing electrical connections. I got this model without GPS mapping since it requires a phone app to use and since I am going to have phone on anyway I can use the GPS map on the phone so no need to spend more. The app was easy to figure out, and the device is activated once it is in the water. The graphics are basic, but you can learn pretty quick how to discern what you are seeing. Importantly you get water temperature and depth information. It's name indicates it is castable and it is. I have used it bank fishing by casting toward areas and it takes some guess work out of whether there might be fish where you think they might be. In the kayak I use the supplied tether line instead of casting. In confines of kayak it is easier not having another rod to deal with. The tether lets you toss it out, or you can tow it along behind. The Garmin Strike Cast is a good value, it will help locate the fish, tell you if water temp is optimum and the depth....if only it would tell you if the fish are biting it would be perfect.

Works great for me. No problems. Finds the fish around the dock and casts a long ways. Accurate water temp and depth. I have a dedicated rod and reel for it with heavy braid. It even has different sized fish on the screen which helps target the big ones.

It works well but loses contact with my phone when its more than 20 feet away. And it only goes up to about 150 feet accurately. If I had anything to improve, it would be to add a fish alarm function. It would be nice if the phone could beep when it sees a fish. If you are not continuously watching the screen you'd never know there was a fish down there. As a result you have to keep the screen on all the time and that drains the phone battery down too fast.

Love this fish finder! I’m a budget type of person and this fit the bill, cheap and didn’t need to worry about anything else to go with it besides my phone. Picks up fish and various depths and has multiple views depending on preference. Never had an issue with getting it to connect or issues with the charger connecting after ice fishing with it. Wish I would’ve purchased the GPS version but this works just a well

Im in the middle with this because it works in the middle for me. The Temp and the Depth seems to work great BUT...... Ive tried it out a few times on my Yak in crystal clear water around my home and its so weird with showing fish of things floating in water. Shows the Temp and Depth fine. Its 9ft every time in the crystal water but it shows things on bottom or floating in the middle but I can see the bottom fine and its soft mud with NOTHING in it most of this stream. It shows fish and things all over on the screen but I can look down and theres nothing there? So the price Im not happy with on this Finder cause all im ever gonna use if for AND TRUST WORKING is the temp and depth.

According to my 16 yo fisherman kid this is “the coolest purchase ever” He loves how this creates maps of whatever body of water he is fishing in very clear detail and shows fish (so a great fish finder) He did say that heavy algae cover can make it more difficult to map Its relatively compact The battery life is great It’s very easy to use (just upload app on your phone and cast away) It was pricey but such a fun and beneficial purchase that it is worth the $$

Had I known about this device sooner, I would not have needed my portable Garmin fish finder. I am no expert on fish finders, I can only tell you that as my first fish finder ever, I am very happy to have purchased this castable fish finder. I needed to change the fish symbols to show as fish or else I could not have understood what I was seeing. Paired the app. with my phone, very simple. I have braided line with heavy duty swivel to make sure I don't lose it. Maybe the GPS version would be worth it should it be lost, mine is not GPS and I am happy with my investment. It works very well. Can take it shore fishing or on a boat. If you have a raft or one-man boat to fish in then get this thing.

Überzeugen konnte es nicht nur durch seine robuste Verarbeitung, sondern auch durch die Funktionen und seine Vielseitigkeit. Beim Angeln vom Ufer kann das Echolot ganz einfach mit einem der mitgelieferten Snaps an einer Rute mit entsprechendem Wurfgewicht befestigt werden uns ausgeworfen werden. Durch die Berührung mit Wasser aktiviert sich das Echolot und verbindet sich automatisch mit dem Handy. Direkt werden auf dem Handy alle Informationen angezeigt. Bei langsamen Einziehen des Echolotes kann man sich die Gewässergegebenheiten perfekt anschauen und gezielt auf den Zielfisch angeln oder seine Pose je nach Wassertiefe direkt passend einstellen. Andererseits kann man bei stillen Gewässer das Echolot auch liegen lassen und sieht auf dem Display des Handys dann die vorbei schwimmenden Fische mit allen benötigen Informationen. Beim Angeln vom Boot aus eignet sich der Echolot perfekt um es mit den mitgelieferten Snaps, sowie dem mitgelieferten Seil am Boot zu befestigen und während der Fahrt hinter sich herzuziehen oder im Stand frei schwimmen zu lassen. Hierdurch entgehen keine nützlichen Informationen und man findet schnell neue Angelspots, wie Flachgewässer oder Krautkanten. Bei zu schneller Fahrt taucht das Echolot allerdings teilweise unter Wasser und die Verbindung zum Handy wird unterbrochen. Im Fazit gibt es für dieses Echolot als alternative zur fest verbauten Echoloten eine klare Kaufempfehlung, aufgrund der Vielseitigkeit, der guten Transportfähigkeit durch seine geringe Größe und die sehr guten Qualität. Dieses Echolot führt definitiv zum Fangerfolg.

Das Teil ist sehr schön und haut auch gut 👍 hin.

Refund is almost impossible, i posted it back and the item got sent back to me as it stated it contains battery. I already followed the return instructions. In short, if you decide to buy this item make sure you 100% want to keep it or ot gonna be challenging to refund it

Tested on my aquarium, it works, hopefully does the same on actual fishing trip
