These speakers are amazing. I replaced the rear deck first and thought something was wrong. Ended up needing a Lc7i. Only the highs were sent to the speakers. Now all the lows and highs are sent to the speakers and these sound so good. They hit hard have punch and clarity. Highs sound great. It’s a well balanced sounding machine of anything you want to listen too. Buy them and have no doubts thats for sure. I had the rear done and now the front doors. This system sounds like there are subs in the trunk. I am using the pioneer power block little amp too after the Lc7i.

The TS-D65C are very good speakers with surprising amount of loudness for their sensitivity rating. Don't get me wrong -- anything below <90db sensitivity will still want an amp. Not necessarily for loudness, but for detail and clarity. Heck, an amp will improve the clarity on 90db sensitive speakers too. That being said, I felt like I didn't have to turn the gain too high to get these to come alive. Despite the rated efficiency, seems Pioneer did a good job with the engineering on this one. Just be aware, these are soft dome design, which means that the sound is going to be on the warmer side. If you're looking more for that bright or tight *tiss* sparkle effect, you'll want to step down to A-series or bump up to Z-series for a hard dome design (I have the Z series on my personal "fun" car). For long drives and road trips, I prefer warmer sounds since my wife and I have found our ears start hurting on brighter speakers. Bright speakers sound cool, don't get me wrong. They just get really fatiguing on long drives. Some people will say these speakers are "bad" because they can't differentiate between a speaker designed for brightness and warmth. That being said, they do have a point about one thing -- warm speakers tend to lack clarity, but the TS-D65C manages to retain clarity and detail very well. Base wise, they're decent. Being warmer speakers, the mid-bass isn't a hard, sharp blast, but rather wraps you like you're bathing in it. Wife really prefers it to brighter speakers, especially for listening to liquid DnB and other chill EDM. I still plan to add a subwoofer, but I don't think I'll need anything too powerful. Mid-range is very good. They don't muddy out the low and high end like the old speakers did, so I didn't have to decrease the mid-range as much on the EQ. Now, are these the *best* speakers? No, but for the price in its class, you're not going to find many that make use of interlaced or reinforced fiber at <$200. All the while, still sounding good enough as those higher end speakers.

Fantastic for the price. Enough mid-bass and excellent tweeters. Complements my rear door mids and sub in boot very well 😁
