Are they lower and uppercase letters that you match? Or match uppercase to uppercase and lower case to lowercase

You match upper case to the lower case letters.

We are looking for something to teach our 4yr old to read word families. ex. -at (b,c,f,h,m, etc.) Is this game conducive to something like that?

This is a game that you can put letters together to form simple words, it helps with phonics in identifying the sounds of letters as well as developing the child spelling capacity. It will help with reading.
