can an african grey fit in it

Although an African Grey would fit inside this cage, the spacing of the wires, the construction of the cage, and the gauge of the wire all would be inadequate for the African Grey - you need a more sturdy cage than this for that type of larger parrot. This cage is for small birds, like finches, parakeets, lovebirds, parrotlets, cockatiels. I think an African Grey could rip this cage apart if it had a mind to do so.

How much of the 53 inch heighth is cage only?

Don't know where you got the 53" height from. This is the Prevue Hendryx F050 model your question is posted under and it's total height is 60" with the cage itself being 48"H x 37"W x 25" D (front to back); and that leaves 12" for the stand itself with the stand's storage shelf being about 6" above the floor. Very solid and very roomy. I purchased it at $181 and even at the current price I feel it is still a good deal for the asking price. Hope this helps.

Is the attached base for this cage included in the 60 inch high measurement? If so, what are the cage only internal measurements?

23" depth 37"across 47" high. I first bought the slightly smaller cage then upgraded to this one. I have 2 aducockatiels who find this cage big enough to constantly mate in and they now wish to lay their 3rd clutch. So they are very happy. I still have 2 8 months old in with them and is big enough for the 4. It is not the pretiest cage- but great for the birds- every inch is usable space. My birds very active- I put ladders of all kinds running top to bottom in back and love to watch them- up and down all day - run run run!

Can the bottom grate be removed so my birds can walk on the bottom plastic pan? If yes, does it leave space to outside? I do not like wire grates.

Yes, it can be removed, however, I wouldn't recommend it because it leaves a gap that could lead to an injured bird. I do not like my birds to walk on grates either so I put a layer of newspaper on top of the grate. The birds have a flat surface to forage on and it makes cleaning the bottom of the cage very easy--just change the newspaper, wrapping up whatever messes the birds have made in it. I have four budgerigars and it takes me about 5 minutes to wipe down their perches and change the newspaper every day.

Very impressed with the quality and speedy delivery of this cage. It's sturdy and roomy, with numerous small spring-loaded doors and 2 large latch doors, for easy access to feed cups and cleaning, setting up, etc. I opted not to use the provided casters, but rather secured the cage to a small low rise coffee table, in order to have additional storage, plus no 'stooping' required (which my back appreciates). Money well spent. Only minor issues: the rubber tray barely fits into the bottom and falls out easily (but can sit on the bottom grill instead); and the feed cups do not fit between the rungs of the cage (anywhere) properly, so one of the hooks snapped off while trying to force the issue. Will just buy some smaller feed cups. Overall, good value for the money, nice cage.

J'aime bien ce produit , apart les deux défaut de soudure et le recipiant tiroir ou j'ai pas osé mettre du sable fut sa finesse le reste nickel, montage facile , mode emploi pas en français mais les photo sont compréhensible.

Producto de buena calidad aunque no creo que sea hierro forjado. Es más bien hierro normal. Esta un poco complicado armarla pero una vez armada tiene buena estructura. Me gustó mucho que es muy ligera para cargarla aunque tiene rueditas. Se puede mover fácil de un lado a otro. Las entradas para entrar a la jaula son 4 normales y 2 muy grandes. Me gustó ya que puedo meter lo que sea.

Encantado con esta jaula ! Súper espaciosa y robusta, buenos materiales y acabados y sobre todo cómoda de utilizar para meter y sacar todo y a mis agapornis parece encantarles. Además, añadir que la jaula la he montado sin ayuda y aunque es cierto que entre dos personas es más cómodo y fácil, el montaje en sí me parece súper fácil e intuitivo, así que no entiendo la gente que se quejaba de lo difícil que es el montaje...porque para nada. En definitiva, 10/10 y muy recomendada si quieres que tus aves estén cómodas cuando están dentro de la jaula.
