1" See-Thru Ring Marlin 336 Black, Clam

This model of see-thru scope rings are listed as fitting the marlin 1895 (45-70) as well as the marlin 336 (30-30). What it doesn't tell you is that it also fits perfectly on the henry rifles chambered in 45–70 and 30-30. I searched high and low for this information, but did not find it. I simply bought these and took a risk and they fit perfectly on my Henry All-Weather 45-70. Now you know. They do a great job of allowing you to see your iron sites perfectly without any obstruction while still having a scope for a longer range shots. These rings screw directly into the receiver so you do not have to use the Weaver model 61 rail to mount a scope. Using a rail works fine, but it partially of obscures the iron sites which is why these see-through rings that mount directly to the receiver, and therefore slightly lower, are a better choice in my opinion.

This scope mount is unique because it allows you to continue to use your iron sights. I have attached pics. The only thing that sucks and has nothing to do with the product but the 336ss marlin is the screws you have to remove before attaching the scope mount is that they’re so soft the strip bad. Had to use a screw extractor to be able to mount this so heads up. Great value.

The original scope mount did not allow the use of the iron sights. This mount raised the scope nearly one inch and allowed plenty of room for the use of the iron sights. Installation was easy. Just removed the old scope mounts and rails and installed the new mount in the original mounting holes. Need to bore sight the scope again.

I've had a pair of these on a marlin 336 for over a decade, have held up well and offer the benefit of open sights for that close up rogue bear that is just a dark blur through the scope. They came in handy when I whacked my scope hard, accidently, on a rock and threw off the point of aim. A buck chased a doe in front of me a short while later and I got a heart shot on him. With a typical scope mount, I would have had to re-zero the scope and I would have never seen the buck consequently.

I was able to install these mounts myself in about 15 minutes, no problems at all. I haven't shot the gun since I installed the scope, but I don't foresee any problems. I followed the directions, and as long as the screws are periodically checked for tightness, there should be no problems. They feel really solid, and allow me to see the rifle sights underneath them, which is why I chose this particular mount.

These mounts were perfect for mounting my Nikon 3-9x40 scope on my Marlin 336W. The clearance was good above my original rear sights.I added a limbsaver recoil pad and a Beartooth comb raising kit to adjust the pull distance and cheek weld to my size.Overall thee mounts make it easy to use the original sights for close in shooting or the scope for distance shooting. these were perfect for my needs.

So although these worked fine for my needs, I don’t enjoy their design at all. I replaced a set that stripped out at the ring mounts which was solid construction. This set had 4 ring supports, which don’t really ever fully deaf against the receiver mount. They are a little tricky to get on and keep evenly threaded. The holes in the receiver side are not large enough to allow for a proper tool to torque the screws. The one I replaced didn’t have this issue. That being said they were under 20 bucks and so far they don’t seem to be loose. View of the iron sights is fine. All in all it’s decent, but I’d buy a more solid item if I could find one.

Fit my 1984 Marlin perfectly. Not too high for my scope. Not really a long range rifle so I like the option for using iron sights or extra precision of my scope. Only thing is I wish the screws came with torx instead of flathead or even Allen key as it's easy to strip when torquing but easy enough to replace. Still very happy with my purchase as these style rings are hard to find sometimes

The description is misleading, while the ring bands are steel the base is aluminum so the base to receiver torque is 35 in/lb while the band to base torque is 15 in/lb (with Blue Locktite) The see through base lets you view the iron sights as well as the scope
