Can anyone tell me the outside diameter of the lifting cup? Thanks.

The cup itself is 2 1/4 inches, with the inner portion (The part that spins freely, with the 4 tabs) 1 7/8ths, and the tabs extend about 1/4 inch up from the cup. Hope this helps.

Question 2

What kind of oil does this take? The screw was loose when it was shipped to me and some oil had poured out into the box. I just want to top it off.

hydraulic jack oil. The screw IS loose upon arrival. If you read the SHORT instructions....this (grey) screw is HOW TO LOWER the jack when you are done lifting and have supported the weight/vehicle with jack stands. Turning just a bit using the handle you used to pump up the vehicle - you will notice it lower ever so gently. ONCE it is fully lowered - it is best to immediately turn the screw clockwise until it stops - this prepares the jack for its next use. Do this so you will not forget it is closed. IMO - some people with oil spewing - did not 'get it' how important it is to assure the valve is closed BEFORE raising the vehicle.

Does it come with a portable case?

I does not.  But as previously stated, the box that the jack comes in in reinforced and very sturdy.  I've had this F-767 model jack for over 5 years now, using it a half dozen times a year and keep it in the box whenever I'm not using it just to help keep it clean and dust free.  The box is still in very good condition and not tearing anywhere in the time I've had it.

Will this raise a 2011 cadillac cts enough to get jack stands underneath it? i want to change transmission oil ... thanks!

The very fact that you are even asking this question concerns me. The ONLY way to learn how to safely lift a vehicle that you will BE UNDER, is direct, in person instruction from a competent, experienced person. If you have to ask a question about safely raising your vehicle, then you do not have the skills to service the transmission.

I am not being insulting. There is no room for error here. Simply put, if you make a mistake, then you die.

For anyone that needs this question answered, PLEASE pay a mechanic instead.

As far as the capacity of this jack, it is more than sufficient to lift any corner of your vehicle, or even one end. Lifting the front or rear of the car shifts some weight to the opposite end, resulting in less than the weight resting on that axle. The real problem is not lifting the first end, but rather the second. Lifting the low end of the car requires more lifting power and also runs the risk of the vehicle tipping off the previous lifted end.

I have worked on my car fo more than 40 years and have only lifted the entire car once. Using 4 jack stands is not safe. Working under a vehicle is dangerous enough, even on 2 stands.

What I do is to use ramps on one end and jack stands on the other.

Now that I drive a SUV, I use 2 sets of ramps. It is the only way that I feel safe.

The most important safety tool that any mechanic has is the full vehicle lift. Just ask a professional mechanic if you don’t believe me. They will NEVER get underneath a car on 4 jack stands. NEVER.
