Review: Interesting recipes, need a lot of unusual items for cooking Review: Simply put, I love it. This cookbook isn’t a quick-fix. It’s a tool to help people achieve better overall health by changing their mindsets. It’s about appreciating food, and making eating healthy achievable. The recipes are versatile. You can easily swap ingredients to suit your taste or requirements. It may seem daunting at first trying to get hold of so many ingredients, but most of them are actually spices, and pulses and vegetables are cheap, so once you’ve acquired some of the ingredients, you’ll find that you can make loads of different recipes with them. I really love this book. Dr. Rupy has done all the hard work for us, and as a GP I trust his research (which is extensive). He is giving us the power of knowledge to take charge of our own health, and then 100s of delicious, easy recipes on top! As a mum of two, I certainly appreciate the ease of these recipes. They’re quick and use minimal equipment, all the while I can rest assured that my kids are “at least” having 3 portions of veg a day. Cook two of his recipes a day and you’ve reached the target! How easy is that?! There is simply nothing not to like about him or his books.

This cookbook is more difficult for me as ingredients are measured in grams. I am an American and cannot find a chart of equivalencies. The charts are off, if indeed they come anywhere near. I very much like Dr. Rupy's approach to good health, and will continue to struggle with the measurements. It does mean, however, there is a difference in the results. Also, he occasionally uses ingredients which we don't have in the US, and I have no idea of what might be substituted.

I bought the last Doctors Kitchen book which has a place on my cookbook shelf but hasn't had too much use. Just bought 321 and I've bookmarked many, many recipes to make. Pros: With 4 kids in a big fan of one pot cooking all of the recipes can be one pot; As a vegetarian there are a couple of meat recipes but these have veggie swaps; Well laid out with sections on types like breakfasts etc as well as by coloured veg; Lots of recipes with a wide range of types of meals. Easy ingredients which most kitchens would have. Cons: Not all recipes have photos which is annoying for a cookbook especially as it's aimed at simplifying cooking but most recipes do have lovely photos ; Some of these recipes I will have a hard sell to kids (although it's not aimed at families so that's OK) ; Some recipes will end up being a side dish rather than a main for us so I'll mix a couple of recipes as a main. Definitely a recommend and it will become one of my go-to cooking books like Little Green Kitchen and One Pan Dinners.
