The Second Greatest Story Ever Told: Now Is the Time of Mercy Review: And an important one it is! - My husband and I are doing Gaitley's 33 Days to Morning Glory Consecration to Mary for the second time this year. The first time, was last spring, during the very difficult months of my dear father's illness and passing away. As we were re-reading the amazing passages that had moved me to tears of joy, solace and gratitude, I remembered that last year I had looked for a book that would deepen the insights I found so inspiring and moving. I searched and searched, but found nothing that spoke about the the bigger picture that the Morning Glory pamphlet seemed to hint at, but did not elaborate on. So this year I got back on-line and started my search again, and to my utter amazement I found this book, and it had been written by the very same person who had written Morning Glory! When I received the book, I wondered why my search had been fruitless last year, and when I looked at the publishing date, I discovered that this book was only just published in January of this year. Basically I was looking for a book that hadn't been published yet! And timely this tale is. If you have ever looked around you, with eyes of faith or not, and wondered "Where are we as the human race headed?" and "what do all these dramatic events of the past few years portend?" "Where is God in the equation of our lives and the historical events that are shaping them?" Well then, this is the book to take up and read, and be awed and inspired by. Gaitley, a man of faith, but with an almost detective's sensibility for seeking the truth, connects the dots for us in such a way that we are able to see the big picture of just where we are at, where we are heading, and how God, far from being absent, is mercifully orchestrating it all. This was the story that I was looking for... and the rewards for having read it have been immense for my life and my faith. Review: Illuminating read - Phenomenal book. After reading it, I bought several more copies to distribute to family.

Fantastic and inspiring
Fr Gaitley makes reading and learning about the message of Divine Mercy and consecration to Mary interesting and easy to follow! His research and references are wonderful. I had read "The Diary of St Faustina" several years ago and became a believer and promoter of Divine Mercy then. This book has shed even more light on its power and connected all the dots for me, rekindling my passion to share with everyone I talk to. I've also been inspired to study more on all the connections. I highly recommend you read it for yourselves, you won't regret it!

Exceptional Well Done
This book is not just about “The Second Greatest Story Ever Told.” Rather, it clarifies, illuminates, and adds to our understanding of “The Greatest Story Ever Told;” it brings to light a new chapter - or Testament - to Salvation History. We now live in the times of The Holy Spirit; a time of mercy. And the Third Millennium in which we now live is a time of God’s Divine Mercy. This book is a must-read for anyone with a desire for Love, Truth, Wisdom, and understanding our contemporary world and our role in it.

Terrific
One of the most wonderful and enlightening books I’ve ever read. Informative and inspirational . Ties many Catholic events together in a clear and factual manner to make a complete picture of the importance of Divine Mercy. I’ve read it multiple times and will read it again . Bravo !

God's School of Trust in His Mercy
Like the DVD Ocean of Mercy which I reviewed here on January 1, 2014, this book by Fr, Gaitley undertakes to detail and explain the 20th century revelations affirming the mercy of God. He does so masterfully in a colloquial style easily understood by any reader. Pope St. John Paul II, whose image dominates the book's cover, is indeed the Mercy Pope who made possible the publication of the Diary of Sister St, Maria Faustina Kowalska, and stands with her as witness to the role of Poland and its people in the revelation of the Divine Mercy. It is in the diary's 700+ pages containing her seven notebooks that the very words of Jesus in His apparitions are recorded. Not only do we all need this reassuring message of hope, but the countless decent people who have left the worship of God because of His depiction as a vengeful God will learn that on the contrary He Himself says that no one will be turned away from salvation but those who willfully refuse it. I recommend this book to all, and especially those who are wary of the Christian faith. I recommend the Diary, too, but 700 pages may be a bit much for a lot of us. P.S. I believe it is no coincidence that JPII died during the Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday. If you're interested, I think you will be moved by the documentary on his death by CNN (of all people!), called The last days of Pope John Paul II - The untold stories. It's an hour and a half long. YouTube has it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwTOLL404JA.

For Christians trying to make sense of our current times, this book gives some good clues and is certainly worth reading. Its principal theme is to link the lives of some contemporary saints with recent papal pronouncements and provides the groundwork for The 2016 Year of Mercy. I found it most enlightening and it is one of those books that I won't forget and will return to from time to time.

There is a saying: When the Church is in need of encouragement, God raises up people to inspire us. Fr Michael Gaitley seems to have come out of nowhere with his wonderful spirituality which will enthuse everyone of good will. Thank God for him!

This is one great book if you want to understand the pillars of the Saint John Paul II. This is a book i would highly recommend most especially because the author has an ability to get you through his personal thoughts and considerations and this makes the book really very reader friendly even for people who are not familiar with reading a book on spirituality. very rich in content!
