Calphalon Coffee Maker, Programmable Coffee Machine with Glass Carafe, 14 Cups, Stainless Steel

For better or worse, I have been through numerous coffee makers over the last several years. For many years I have struggled with a Cuisinart coffee maker, which is rated number one by Consumer Reports, but has a coffee carafe that is horrible and drips water every time you try to fill the coffee pot. It also produced a storm of steam out the back that can be damaging to cabinets above the coffee maker. When the Cuisinart finally died after several years, I elected to purchase this Calphalon coffee maker. I've only had it for a few weeks but so far it has been perfect. The coffee it brews is excellent, dark, and very hot. Operation is simple. Most importantly, The carafe is well designed and does not drip at all! This is a complete relief. I also notice that when brewing a full pot ( 14 cups) the Calphalon ends up with 14 cups of coffee in the pot. The Cuisinart lost so much steam out the back that when brewing 14 cups, only 10 or 12 cups would wind up in the carafe itself. Overall this is an excellent coffee maker that i would highly recommend!

Love this coffee pot. I don't buy the most expensive coffee or grind my own beans and the coffee still has the best flavor of any coffee pot I have had for years. The 4 hour warming plate plus the adjustable temperature of the plate is fantastic. I use 4 hours on medium and it never burns my coffee. I can't use the permanent filter, allergic to metal, but the paper work very well with this pot. The only problem I had was getting the amount of grounds correctly for the pot. Even the really strong coffee I made was good tasting and not bitter. LOVE THIS POT. Can't say enough about it. It is very good looking, just the right size and the pot is easy to handle. Broke my wrist and it gets picky with balance and has no problem lifting and pouring the pot. No drips when you pour. It does have a feature that I have never seen before. A rubber 'gasket' that goes above the pot to put the condensation back into the pot. That helps keep the coffee at the right mixture and was a very clever idea. I did learn that if you put the pot in the holder and turn the handle to the side it seats the gasket seats correctly every time.

I have really tried to love or even put up with this coffee maker because in my opinion, it has made the best tasting coffee from any coffee maker I have owned. It looks nice, has program features, warming time and temp controls. The good: 1) It makes really good coffee. I have been using the same coffee brand for years and this coffee maker just makes it taste better for some reason. Maybe the water is hotter when it hits the grounds, allows the water to stay in the grounds longer, who knows... it just tastes better. 2) It looks really nice. 3) Warming temp and timer settings are really nice to have. 4) Programming helps when you want it to be ready when you want it ready. The bad: 1) The most annoying part of this is the carafe cannot be slid in without having to open the lid. There is a rubber piece above it (to prevent splashing?) that catches it each time. You have to fight with it to put in the carafe. If I had a full pot, it would likely spill out because you have to force it in. The only easy way to get it in is to lift the lid each time. 2) So now you have to lift the lid each time to get the carafe in, but when you pull it out the stopper doesn't seal well enough so you always get many drips (especially if it's still brewing). Again, trying to like this coffee pot... I pull out the carafe, put down a paper towel so the drips don't continue to burn on the warmer, fill my cup, then open the lid to slid in the carafe. 3) Not terrible, but annoying... the beeps when you turn it on / finishes cannot be turned off and they are kind of loud 4) Like others have said.. the carafe is poorly designed. The plastic part makes it very easy to pour a cup of coffee, but it makes it very hard to clean the carafe and you cannot get all the water out because of it. 5) Speaking of the carafe... not sure what it is about this one but it's very hard to clean. It's like the glass gets stained very easily and you have to scrub it, a lot, daily to keep it looking clear/clean... which isn't easy due to the plastic piece blocking part of the carafe opening. 6) Whatever causes the coffee pot to actually brew never turns off. You will hear random gurgling sounds when condensation builds inside and drips back down into the water reservoir. The gurgling is pretty loud... I can hear it upstairs. 7) And finally and most importanly... today while brweing, I heard a loud pop. The plastic around the warming plate cracked. I have used this less than 3 weeks. I have never had a coffee pot do this... even cheap $15 coffee makers never literally broke while brweing. So... if you can deal with the issues above... and if yours does not break... it does make great coffee. I am returning mine.

This coffee pot makes better coffee than my old Mr. Coffee and is easier to use. It is also more quiet. I had to get used to the #4 cone filters as this is my first time using them. But I quickly got the hang of it. I don't use the permanent filter that came with it because it makes a mess when I remove it and is difficult to clean. All-in-all it is well worth the money so far. You can turn off the audible signal when the coffee is done by simultaneously holding the 1-4 cups button and the strong brew button. Hold the buttons down for 3 seconds and the sound will be turned off. Addendum......this morning, I heard a crack and found that the warming plate had cracked. It still works, though. The carafe started dripping and is hard to clean. The dishwasher is the only way to really clean it. Also, I found today that the cleaning cycle doesn't work. It stays on for 5 minutes and then shuts off and starts blinking again. I had to keep restarting it to finish it. Also, now that it is done, I can't get the light to stop blinking! Someone else suggested to unplug it and reset it, but that doesn't work.

Me gustó mucho. La compré para mí oficina y luce muy bien, además de su funcionalidad y un rico café caliente por horas.

El filtro permanente en realidad es desechable acabe cambiandolo por uno generico.Otro inconveniente es que no tiene mecanismo de parado que si tienen otras cafeteras de su tipo. Salvo eso todo bien y ha cumplido su propósito. Actualización :tuve un detalle con su funcionamiento que se arreglo perfectamente con un litro de vinagre. No olviden darse ese mantenimiento siguiendo el instructivo.
