I picked these mostly because of their size. I wanted a platform slightly larger than a Chester but not as huge as some of the largest pedals out there - I decided these were a good option for my size 10.5 feet. Not sure what more you could ask for from a set of pedals. They’re on the higher end of the price spectrum but certainly there are many more expensive options. The pins are exactly what I was looking for. With Five Ten shoes the grip is incredible and at first adjusting my feet was very difficult but I’m getting used to having to lift my foot a bit to adjust position. The pins are not as bone smashingly sharp as some other pedals I’ve ridden and it’s nice to not always be bleeding after the smallest contact with your shin or calf. Aesthetically these are gorgeous. Beautiful. Artwork. Quality construction and feels like the premium components they are. The slim design minimizes rock strikes directly below but the larger than most overall width does mean you will have to be aware of pedal strikes. I’ve taken some good ones on solid rock and no visible damage to the pedal yet. Coming from some raceface Chester’s, these are a whole new level of grip and pride of ownership. Obviously they should be at 2x the price. I’m stoked with these pedals and can’t wait to purchase some other oneup components in the future.

I replaced a pair of composite Chesters with these and am glad I did. They feel much more stable because they have a larger area and the aluminum is more rigid than the composite. They stick better AND it’s easier to reposition your feet on them when you need to. That seems contradictory, but it’s been my experience. Maybe it’s because the pins are farther apart, allowing you to lift part of your foot and pivot/rotate off the other pin(s). Expensive flats, but they improved my riding and my confidence on jumps and big drops.

After many years of only riding with clipless pedals, I decided to go pro (meant to be in jest) and get flats (with a combo of five-ten shoes). There are several good choices of flat pedals and I received the opinions of some of the riders I work with at the local MTB park. Obviously, I chose the One Ups not only because they were recommended (along with another highly regarded brand that sponsors Danny MaCaskill), but because I also liked the sleek design and the red pedals look dope (do people still say that?) on my bike. They perform very well, even with climbing, as my feet stay in place. Plus, I now have more confidence going into berms at a higher rate of speed knowing I can put my foot down if needed.
