Cotton Cordell Pencil Popper Topwater Fishing Lure

Most commonly I use the 6 inch pencil in the waters that I fish. This is a great pencil to learn how to work pencil style lures, with the quick twitches in the rod and steady retrieve the lure will walk or dance on the surface very easily. This pencil also floats horizontal on the surface so I find I can work it a little slower similar to a spook, but also fishes well at a faster pace.

Caught my PB bluefish on it! The 1 oz casts on a 9ft surf rod with 4k reel and 40lbs braid about 75 yards like a charm! Sharp hooks and durability. Bought a couple more in other colors.

The lure itself if good. It's durable loud and hooks are sharp. Here's just a 1 issue. It's not 1oz as described which is not a big deal for me but could be misleading for someone who willing to by this lure.

Too light

A value plug that can be fished like a splash popper or side to side like a spook. I did not expect the walk the dog side to side action like a spook but it works well. Alot of hits using walk the dog method. Hooks not as high quality as other brands but you can replace the split rings and upgrade the hooks after they rust. I mainly target blues with this lure and if a striper takes it even more benefit. Every angler should have this plug in their bag. I use other more expensive plugs and this plug casts just as well, only just the hook/split ring quality difference. If you lose it, not as painful like a $25 lure...this one works don't pass it by because its a legacy value brand.

Been using these lures in the white/red and blue/silver for over fifty years and can't tell you how many striped bass and blue fish I've caught with them. This one was for my son in NY and two days after he got it he caught a thirty lb. striper. Great product!

Worked really good on Stripe bass

No me gustó mucho el peso ya que es un poco ligero (2 oz), pero apesar de eso tiene un diseño excelente, sobre todo el anzuelo triple central, trae un destorcedor incluido en el interiro del señuelo, el cual me agrado muchisimo, lo probe hace dos semanas sus capturas fueron sorprendete, sus anzuelos triples se clavan como un alfiler en una mantequilla en la mandibula de los peces, capture 4 gallos y 2 juruaeles. :)

The price is ridiculous. I paid $30 plus tax and today it's only $27. It's only 6 in Long and for that price it should be 7 in. I can only hope it will cast just as far as the 7-in because it's probably not as heavy. I've had great success with the 7-in red and white one but thought I would try this one. The 7-inch one is only $23 so go figure.
