Beautiful desk, clear instructions - so worth the effort!
After a thorough search for the perfect home office upgrade, I settled on this executive desk from Amazon, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The assembly process, while challenging, was a rewarding DIY project for me (52 yo female) with lots of experience in building and assembling furniture. It took about 6-7 hours to complete the assembly alone, and I did need help flipping it over. Despite eight pieces being unlabeled, including a crucial piece from Step 1, the clear and detailed instructions provided a roadmap to success. It's imperative to lay out all pieces beforehand and closely examine each diagram, especially when assembling the drawers. The slides are numbered 1-4 and might appear upside down, but fear not, that's intentional. Additionally, watch for the wood pieces at the bottom of the uprights; they are unlabeled and are easy to miss, but are crucial for securing the desk properly. The materials exceeded my expectations, with a nicely laminated surface that adds a touch of elegance to my office space. The pre-drilled holes aligned perfectly, and the package arrived without any damaged parts, which is always a relief. The design and functionality of the desk are top-notch. While I would have appreciated a wider pencil drawer, the keyboard drawer and other storage compartments are thoughtfully designed. The bottom drawer is spacious enough for either letter or legal-sized files, which is a major plus. Moreover, the desk's cord management system is great, allowing me to keep all wires neatly tucked away. The desk arrived in two well-packaged boxes, and I recommend inspecting for any potential shipping damage upon delivery (I did have to reorder this because the shipper sent the first back due to visible damage). Considering the quality, aesthetics, and functionality, this desk represents a significant value, costing less than half what a comparable, fully-assembled desk would have sold for.In conclusion, I am over the moon with my new executive desk. It not only looks stunning in my space but is also highly functional for my daily needs. The assembly process, while not for the faint of heart, was well worth the effort. My advice to potential buyers is to take your time with the assembly and to thoroughly review each step before proceeding. I am delighted with how it transformed my space, and while I hope I never have to move it, I am thrilled with the result.

Very nice home office desk for the money
This thing arrived in quickly in two separate cartons. The cartons were very heavy! We (the wife and me) opened up the first carton and then proceeded to carry a few boards at a time up to my second floor office. There are a LOT of pieces! So after taking a break after getting all the pieces upstairs we began the daunting task of putting this beast together. There are many steps involved and not all the pieces were marked appropriately. Even the manual that came with the desk at one point stated: Don't worry, this isn't Rome. It can be built in a day. Well maybe it could be built by someone who put these things together full-time but it took us an entire weekend (and I'm normally rather handy at building things like these). The end result is totally worth it though. I was refurnishing my office and this desk, along with the matching bookshelf and filing cabinet, completed the look I was going for: Form, function, style. One tip though: Do NOT use a cordless drill as you will strip the compressed wood (which is what this desk is made from). Use a screwdriver. It also helps to have a buddy with the final stages as connecting the two pieces of the "L" would be very difficult with just one person. Overall, I'm satisfied with the quality, look, and price of this piece and glad I bought it.

Great desk for the price, assembly not so much.
I bought this desk for my personal office. I'm an Electrician by trade, and more or less a jack of all trades. As I like to say, I'm a jack of all trades and a master of one. With that said, this desk took me almost seven hours to put together! The instructions were easy to follow, but you literally have to put every little thing you can think of, and some that you can't together. It's NOT difficult to put together, just very time-consuming. After it was fully assembled I would have to admit that this is a really nice desk for the price. It's very sturdy and looks really nice. Most people that come into my office think that it is made out of real wood and are generally quite surprised when I inform them that it's not. I have four monitors on my desk with speakers, a mouse, and miscellaneous other things. My monitors are not stacked and their sizes are 24 inches (two) and 21 inches (two) and I never feel like I'm tight for space. If you can get by the assembely of this desk, you will be very happy with it I believe!

Sauder Palladia L-Shaped Desk, Vintage Oak finish: a highly valued and satisfied purchase!
Both packages containing the materials and parts for assembling the Sauder Palladia L-Shaped Desk, Vintage Oak finish were delivered on time. However, the overall excitement soon turned into cautious optimism upon remembering what I had previously read online: 'that while it is not hard to assemble, it did take time.' The individual packages were heavy. I received assistance from my wife to help take them into the house. After opening the packages, my initial optimism almost dissipated when it took me longer than expected to locate the Instruction Booklet. I found it sandwiched in between the numerous pieces in one of the packages. It happened just at the time I was becoming concerned that it wasn't shipped at all. The majority of the individual parts were labeled. However, I soon discovered similar to what was written in the reviews, that a few parts and pieces were not labeled. That being said, the number of unlabeled pieces that came with my order was not substantial. Except for the parts referred to as 'ZZ' and 'YY;' the TOP DRAWER FRONT BRACKETS '6G;' DRAWER FRONT BRACKETS '9G' and '10G;' and the DRAWER FRONT 'U' in the Instruction Booklet, all the other parts and pieces were readily identifiable since were duly labeled. I subsequently found the 'U' label which was missing from the DRAWER FRONT without a label, stuck on one of the FRONT BRACKETS. The instructions were easy to follow and understand. Notwithstanding the concise and simple instructions provided, the numerous pieces to be assembled, and my limited skill set as a 'do-it-yourselfer' resulted in it taking me several hours to complete. After working a few hours daily for 3 consecutive days, I finally had the Sauder Palladia L-Shaped Desk in my home! The shortcomings of the few unlabeled pieces were insignificant in comparison to the triumph of the assembled desk. More importantly, the purchase price of $405.00 I felt was a bargain then and is even more so now! Also, its natural appearance adds value as an additional piece of decorative furniture. Ultimately, it increases my overall satisfaction with the purchase!

FAKE PAPER MACHE FURNITURE
I am not buying anymore fake wood furniture products from Amazon. Just ordered 9 furniture pieces all at once. That was a mistake. Desk ok but assembly horrible
Now that the desk is together, I can appreciate it and say that the desk is nice, study and worth the price. The three star review is because everything else about this purchase was a pain. First of all, Amazon said that because this was a heavy and large purchase we were to select a delivery time and option. Knowing the progress of our home remodel, we chose a date of May 28 to give our contractors time to finish the one room so this room could be cleaned out first. Imagine our surprise when I receive not a shipping notice, but a “your product will be delivered today” notice from Amazon an entire week earlier than the date requested. And then, it wasn’t even delivered by special delivery—it came via ups and the box was completely open on one corner with those pieces visibly marred. The second box had been jostled so much that the pieces had come loose from the foam packaging and were jostling around inside. And the boxes were heavy—I know our ups guy is alone—I have no idea how he got them onto our porch. Amazon did give me partial refund to keep the desk, but I was so worried to put it together. That is where part two of the saga comes in. I have other Sauder in our house. Everything was well marked and easy to put together. This, however, was neither. Half of the pieces were not marked and it took my husband and I nearly 5 hours to assemble—and we are handy people. It want difficult—we just wasted so much time trying to determine what part was what. Now that it is in, I like it and it looks great—(the damaged pieces are in the back corner so as long as we keep the desk in a corner you can’t see them).

The instructions however has very good images which one can compare against the parts to ...
This is the third Sauder Palladia item we purchased. Also bought two libraries (bookcases) and the L-shaped desk. 1st, shipping. The two libraries shipped via UPS, the desk (in two boxes) via FedEx, and this hutch via ABF. All were packed the same: in a large cardboard box, with edge reinforcements, and wrapped in heavy plastic which was glued to the box. Only the hutch arrived with no shipping damage. My guess shipping ABF had less handling during shipping, less handoffs at various points. The UPS boxes were damaged in the corners, gouged and the edge reinforcements and plastic was loose on one box. Each box had a broken part which required replacement. The two desk boxes by FedEx had some damage but no broken parts though one box had a minimal gouge which marked the desk top which we can live with. 2nd, assembly instructions. Instruction books well thought out. Some parts had stickers, some were marked on edges, and others with nothing. The instructions however has very good images which one can compare against the parts to find the parts. For the desk this was important as it has what seemed to be 100s of parts. Images showed holes on each part and described finish sides which helps identify the part and helps orientate the part for assembly. 3rd, recommendation. 3a. After unpacking the box(es), identify any broken parts and get on the Sauder.com website to order free replacement parts. If part cannot be easily replaced after assembly, will have to wait until replacement arrives. My parts took about 4 to 5 days. 3b. Take the plastic bag with all the screws, empty it, and separate the various pieces into piles. Compare against the parts list; I didn't have any shortages, had a few extra. Helps during assembly to pull from a separated pile rather than a mixed pile. Especially since some screws are similar. Pay attention to black, brown and silver descriptors for parts. 3c. Make a large area to assemble. I did on carpeted area which helps cushion and prevent scratches; also easier on knees. Helps in laying out the parts, allows turning unit over which you will have to do to nail on back. Caution on moving unit during assembly as it is only held together with screws and clips and it is not real wood; while not fragile like glass, cannot take too much flexing or twisting or racking until finished. 4th, Quality. Yes it is an engineered wood product with no real wood; unless one considers wood chips as real wood. Made of glued sawdust and chips; some medium density and some high density such as desk tops and moldings. Backing is high density paper product; for the libraries, came folded and when installed the crease does visually distract. In my opinion, better quality than Ikea furniture. Yes we would have preferred real wood bookcases, desk and hutch however we also would not have liked the price. At this time, I think the quality and value match the price. Quality is very good, it is well engineered, finish from the factory is very good and price is fair. Shipping is the weak link in finish quality.

Took time but worth it
Took a long time (4-6 hours total) to assemble over a few days. While the directions were simple they cuu out Ks have been clearer with some connections hidden in the image provided. Solid and structurally sound. Has a great finish and look great. Am very pleased with the results.
