Higher end knife
I like this knife because of its high-quality materials. The S35VN steel has superior edge retention and durability versus the 420HC steel, and the micarta handle is durable. If you want a knife you can trust, buy this one. NOTE: The knife is exactly as big as they said it was. It is smaller than a lot of your big unwieldy hunting knives so be sure you want a slim streamlined look and feel before you buy this knife. The knife was in good condition and razor sharp when I got it. It shipped very promptly. Again, A KNIFE THAT CAN TAKE A LOT OF USE. I have field dressed two deer with this knife already. I've never used a sharper knife while doing that job before. It cuts beautifully.

One of the best
Buck is well known for their Bos heat treatment. Proper heat treatment can make a big improvement on a blades performance. This blade shape has proven itself many times over. My original 102 is over 40 years old and still my favorite field knife. Looking forward to passing this one to the next generation along with my old one.

Beautiful small knife.
Great and beautiful knife, the blade could be bigger (to my liking is to skinny) but it’s so sharp and beautiful.

Blade was sharpened only on one side, S35V steel
I had purchased one of the Buck 102 Pro knives. My Dad loved it, so I gave him that one and ordered another for myself. This is the expensive version with S35V steel, very hard steel. The blade was not sharpened on one side. It cuts butter really well but nothing else. I wrote an email to Buck warranty support on their website. A month later, the email has still been ignored. I have 2 weeks left on the return window. You have 2 weeks Buck!!

Smaller in person
It almost looks like a toy because of how small it is. However, that being said it's a beautiful knife. It came needing to be sharpened, which is unfortunate. I altered the sheath because I prefer cross draw. This will be my daily carry or edc knife. I think it's way over priced.

QC is very questionably controlled...
I bought the Pro in S35VN. The hollow grind was uneven and the sharpen looked like it was done with a 30 grit flap disc on an angle grinder. The heat treat was so aggressively uneven that attempting to sharpen it, due to the MASSIVE martensitic crystallization, means that the only thing I was able to produce was gray dust and an unusable blade. It's a $150 testament to buy anything else. They're becoming the Gibson Guitars of knives... buy one from before they stopped caring, which is unfortunately prior to their introduction of S35VN. I have plenty of experience with a variety of extremely hard and cantankerous steels. This is just poor execution. Would not cut worth a good gosh darn out of the package and the heat treating destroyed it. Since I attempted to fix it, instead of just putting it back in the box and giving it back, I paid for my education in what hardened steel with zero annealing does to a knife, and probably explains the terrible factory edge. The knife is gorgeous. It's just garbage. D2 and 420HC should not suffer from the same large aggregate particles, but they're probably ground by the same people who took the steaming dump that is my 102 Pro.

Coltello buck,il coltello è di ottima fattura e credo che anche i materiali lo siano,ma ho regalato il coltello xchè le sue dimensioni nn sino adatte alle mani di un uomo.
