Great tablet, especially when purchased on sale
I'm used to an iPad for me and Amazon Tablets for the kids. My iPad tablet broke and I couldn't justify spending £400+ on another one. I decide to give the Amazon tablet a go, and have been really please: Pros: - Great price in their sale (they're always having sales so wait until it's on) - Easy to set up - Screen is really good quality - Easy setup - with the 4GB version it is really responsive - easily hooks up to my WiFi printer - it has all the common media APPs, even Youtube now - battery life is good - comes with a usb charger lead and a plug Cons: - sound quality is quite poor through the speakers - with this, and my kid's Amazon Fire tablets, hooking it up to my personal hotspot on my phone is a pain. It's always a case of restarting and forgetting the phone. It's just a hassle when you're trying to hook the tablet up to watch a program when they're in the car

Unbelievable quality and value for money
I had the previous version of the Fire HD 10 (2019) and was impressed by the incredible bang per buck that it offers. It was and still is a great tablet and very responsive. I did not expect the new version to be much better quality as the technical specifications were fairly similar - same processor but increased RAM (double - I got the new Fire HD 10 Plus) and different shape (lighter and better) and wireless charging (not really something that particularly attracted me but I guess useful to have for some). However I was wrong. The new version is fantastic. It seems smoother, more responsive, lighter, snappier and no lag at all ever. Web pages render very fast and apps seem to work without any glitches at all. This really has to be the best value tablet ever when it comes to quality and value. Movies look amazing, the sound is good and despite some app store limitations this has most of the main apps that I use including all the usual social media apps and youtube etc. The mail client is good. The cameras are poor compared to up to date mobile phone cameras but fine for video conferencing etc. But this device is not really intended as a camera for taking snaps so not an issue in the slightest. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality multimedia device.

Great tablet with only a couple of flaws
As an android tablet user for many years, the Fire tablet feels familiar, but as you start to use it, the differences become apparent. That's not to say its not as good, just different, so it's really just a case of getting used to it. A bit like Apple products, the Fire tablet sits on its own bubble and doesn't really like to accommodate some of the apps available to android users. For example, it had its own app store and many of the apps I used to have, aren't available. However, there is a cheeky workaround that enables you to install the Google play store, which works great. Search for it online. Another flaw in my opinion, is that the home screen only scrolls vertically. You can swipe it, but only to reach a page called "For You," and your Kindle library. This means all your apps are on the home screen. Now I don't know about you, but I like to organise everything and I'm used to swiping across multiple screens to access my apps. You might find a single screen frustrating. However, I'm happy to put up with these niggles for the plus points. The screen quality is excellent with bright vibrant colours. Videos are crisp and clear and the two speakers do a good job. Battery life is very good indeed and charging is swift. There is no wireless charging but I'm sure it will be included in the future. The cameras are average but TBF, who uses a tablet for pics when phones are so much handier? WiFi connections are steady and reliable; all my android tabs randomly dropped WiFi, so this is a real bonus for me. The real test of this tablet is, would I buy one again? And the answer is, defenately.

Exceptional value
As so often with Amazon, one has to buy at the right time to get the deals, and I bought this tablet just after Christmas, meaning a 33% discount. It represents exceptional value for a 10” tablet with these specs; I can’t fault the display, touchscreen, speed, smoothness of operation, and battery life, although the speakers and cameras could be a bit better. Seems pointless comparing it with a top range iPad which costs several times the price. I chose the Plus version for the extra RAM, which I feel is important. It also has wireless charging, but I doubt I will use that yet as the dock is quite expensive. I selected the add free version of course, and 32gig as I can fit an SD card if needed later, As for the OS, yes it is a modified Android version, but sufficiently close to the original to make adapting to it easy enough, and in some respects it’s easier to use. Another bonus point is the Amazon guarantee that updates will be available for at least 4 years after the product ceases to be available. In the past, I have bought far more expensive Android devices only for them to run out of updates after 3 years. A couple of downsides. It is true that, short of downloading extra files (don’t fancy that at all), one is limited to apps available in the Amazon store, which is OK for most things; e.g. I got Google Search, but can’t use my paid-for Norton 360 (Grrrr!), so had to find recommended free antivirus and VPN. I don’t play games. There is one serious failing for me that I have to mention: the built-in mail app is hopeless. I accidentally pressed the “see more messages” button, and it then downloaded every message on that account going back to 2015, all 13000 of them! The app was then so clogged up, the delete button disappeared, and even when I did get it back, I found that there is no bulk delete facility, so I can’t clear the in box. Solution was to force stop the app (can’t uninstall), and download Outlook (well established and reliable). Yes, I know I should have done that to start with! Because of this issue, I’m dropping a star from my review. In a nutshell, great device, great value, would recommend. But don’t even think about using their own mail app, get Outlook!

Fantastic
An absolutely amazing tablet. Fire hd10 plus is such an amazing tablet a good upgrade on previous model,I contemplated a Samsung tab s7 plus which I could of had on interest free payments with amazon as well but what swung me in the end was the massive price difference,we're talking 700 pound next to what I paid on prime day. Can't remember the exact price but it was 120 quid ish 32gb model. Boosh a 256gb micro sd card in there 35 quid on amazon for a good one, don't be fooled by those 256gb micro sd cards for 15 quid as when you get it and put it in whatever device your using,it's usually only got about 32gb. Buy SanDisk,Samsung,or if you are getting it for a switch omg those nintendo licenced sd cards are a few quid more but if your like me worth it. Anywayz back to the review in hand. You ain't going to be playing any graphics hungry games on it,it dosent have an oled 4k screen and it's not a multitasking replacement for your laptop. But what you do get is a really nice screen and resolution, speakers are really good with dolby atmos, you can play games fine on it just don't expect console fps and graphical fidelity. Now if its amazons shopping, prime movies, music and connectivity to alexa your after then there is no better place to be. For watching movies and listening to music it's fantastic and let's be fair does 4k oled really matter for watching a movie on the go or on holiday,I think not if its a film or series you love and your like me I've forgotten about resolution etc within 2 mins,it's like watching a movie with subtitles, you forget your reading them within 5 mins. And back to the audio quality,it's fab, clear and will fill a small room,or you could connect it to your echo dots etc and have the audio in the whole house, very versatile. It's a quality tablet for the money,I would love amazon to bump the price up to say 200 and make it out of an aluminium frame with a glass back to make it feel more premium, and up the ram to 4 to 6 gb,put a bit faster procesing cpu inside it as well and I personally think it would easily steal some of samsung and apples glory. Amazon could easily do it with the power they have behind them. All in all though a fab unit and I love it

A decent mid range tablet.
First off, this is not an Android Tablet, this is an Amazon Fire Tablet. What's the difference? This tablet is running Amazon Fire OS, which is a branch of Android - but more it's own thing. That doesn't make it a bad thing. You don't have access to the Google Play Store, instead you have access to Amazon's own App Store. Most of what you are going to want to do is going to be possible on this device. Now, I have to admit that this is the first Fire Tablet I have owned, so I can't compare it to previous iterations. I wanted something that would allow me to read magazines, and graphic novels - but that I could also use to take notes and do sketches on. And... Yes, even though I am tied to using Amazon's ecosystem everything I want to do is possible. The screen is nice and bright and very responsive. Sound quality through the built in speakers is not bad. Video play back is pretty good. You can game on it, to an extent, as long as you understand this is not a gaming tablet. It comes preinstalled with several apps, including the mobile version of Microsoft Office. I've been using it for a few days now... And, I really like it. it is big, so it is heavy to hold, but I opted for the bundle with the cover and the screen protector (well worth doing), and the cover doubles as a stand. Overall it's a nice mid range tablet.

Brilliant all round
Without doubt an excellent tablet. For cash strapped families or individuals, this more than matches higher prices tablets. I went for the 64gb and no ads version. Also a black Friday purchase. So the value per pound is high. With the extra gigabyte of memory and the plus being shorter, I find these little improvements definitely make a positive difference. Faster performance and nicer to hold. I had the previous best version of the fire 10 and this is much better, in my opinion. Being shorter, this one seems better balanced when holding. I have no complaints about the previous model, but 4gb memory from 3gb, is worth the upgrade. Graphics and picture quality watching content is a joy. Sometimes watching things on a smaller screen, while sound is bluetoothed through my sound system, is just as enjoyable as watching it on my TV. Amazon tablets are not high end, high priced. They are made for easy use, mass audience participation. I'm sure if they produced a £300 device, it would match the elite and be one of the topsellers of all time. As for this tablet, it's the people's tablet and will satisfy every desire.

The 2021 10 plus is a great tablet. With one minor tweak
Having owned several Kindle Fire tablets over the years, I’ve always loved them as a basic film tablet, however they have lacked the ability to make web browsing pleasurable, often with severe judder when scrolling or pages taking an age to load. Additionally they are limited in what apps are available and with limited RAM continued to run apps available slowly. This tablet makes all that history! The 2021 generation of this model (10 plus) with 4GB RAM breezes through apps and tasks it has to run. The Amazon ecosystem remains limited in what it offers. However by side loading the Google play store you will have access to the entire Google ecosystem too. The tablet runs all the apps I’ve used from the play store brilliantly and load times are fast. There is only one annoyance with this. Some apps tend to compete to update, for example the Alexa app will fail to load if updated through the play store, which it does constantly, rendering the app useless until uninstalled and then reinstalled through the Amazon App Store. - this however is a small price to pay to have access to a fully functional unlimited tablet device. I purchased the tablet as part of the Black Friday offers making this tablet a total steal. However even at the Amazon’s RRP I would suggest that it’s still excellent value when compared to what you get from similarly priced tablets. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go, especially if you’re into tweaking it to get the best experience out of it.
