Helped my aggressive male cat in addition to other steps
I am sharing this because of a review I read about an established male aggressor/bully and a new younger female cat that gave me hope, in case this helps anyone. I have a very rambunctious male cat who grew up a single kitten and with dogs. He had single kitten syndrome and could become aggressive with the dogs and with people (never learned that biting and scratching hurts from playing with other kittens). Earlier this year I adopted a younger female cat so he would have a friend, because we no longer lived with dogs and he needed a playmate. I introduced them slowly and followed Jackson Galaxy’s tips for introducing cats. I bought these for my male cat to wear because it wasn’t going well and he would be very rough and aggressive with the new cat who is very laid back. This stage can be frustrating, scary and feel hopeless but it’s super important to avoid the “stare down” and to avoid letting them fight (watch Jackson Galaxy’s YouTube videos). I couldn’t be certain if the collars worked at the time but I was willing to try, so male cat wore one indefinitely. We did the intro and our visits got longer and longer after 6-8 weeks they could coexist and play and I could leave them alone at home when I left without fear of male cat hurting new baby girl cat. They became friends. Fast forward to moving to a new apartment 3.5 months after adopting new kitty. Male cat was wearing one of these that he had had on for a month or so. No way did I think it was still working if it ever did so I removed it after being in the place for 2 weeks. The cats had been playing like they always did (play wrestling but no ears back or anything more than playful biting etc.) and seemed to be adjusting fine. Then over the next week or so I seemed to have to start breaking them up. My male cat was becoming more frequently aggressive to the younger female cat. It got to the point where every single time he saw her he would put his ears back, stare her down from a distance before launching at her, body slamming her, biting and kicking before I realized they were no longer having positive interactions and my younger cat was becoming afraid of him. I said enough is enough and I separated them and decided I would reintroduce them like Jackson Galaxy recommends. I separated them for 1 full day and got a second litter box again. Admittedly I thought I could get away with only 1 for a short time while settling into the new place but this was clearly not a good idea. In the meantime I put the old calming collar back on my male cat and ordered new ones for overnight shipping. Male cat has had a new collar on for 36 hours and they are back to coexisting and playing without having to be broken up. No signs of actual aggression from male cat. He is playful again without hurting the young female. I am so relieved that my little cat isn’t getting bullied anymore and that it happened somewhat quickly. Although I can’t say the collar alone would have helped, I am a believer and I will continue to dress my male cat in this collar so long as he is a whackadoodle. But I will also remember to respect his territorial needs. Long story short, do NOT skip the basics like proper introductions, adequate litter box territory, vertical spaces to climb, playtime, ruling out health issues etc. and expect this to work. I can see now that the stress of adjusting to new territory as well as only having 1 litter box posed a problem. I also just can’t help but wonder if the collar was still releasing pheromones after 1 month, because of the increase in aggression I believe that happened in the week my male cat had the old collar off. Anyway, I am happy to be on the other side of the problem!

Calmed my Kitty Wonderfully
These work wonderfully. I have a 2-year-old kitty who suddenly became aggressive towards my 4-year-old kitty. After a trip to the vet to rule out any pain or problems, and discovering that there was a neighborhood kitty coming around our windows, which the 2-year-old kitty did NOT like. We decided to try these, and after about a day and a half, we were able to reintroduce them, and she seems fine. Putting them on is easy, and adjusting them is great too. They do last 30 days, and you get 4 in a pack, so for the price, I think that is great. Will continue to buy for the foreseeable future.

Helps with marking behavior
I had a situation where two 5 year old cats were terrorizing an 11year old cat at the litter box, causing the frightened cat to mark places all over the house. I used this in addition to 7 diffusers added all over the house. This collar worked on the scaredy-cat but did nothing for the aggression of the other 2. This was only half of the solution. And happy pheromones don’t work as well if the negative stimulus is still present. Further, one of the aggressive cats kept getting his collar off until he finally just chewed the buckle and destroyed it. I had to get a different brand collar that was more difficult to remove (but he was still able) so it would stay on him longer.

Unsure
I’ve only had this product for one day, I don’t think this will work for my cat, Zoey. Background, she doesn’t play, never really has. She will play for 2.5 seconds and runs away. It’s almost like she thinks playing is wrong. Anyway, I have two other cats who play hardcore together, they try to play with her, but she just growls and hisses or she screams bloody murder if they get too close. After a year and a half together, she just random started peeing on their beds and in the toy bin and pooping random places. Vet didn’t find anything wrong and suggest calming collar, so here we are. 1. Some people mentioned a scent, I don’t smell anything. 2. Easy to put on / Easy to fall off. When I put it on I heard a slight clicks thought it was on good. Next thing I know, the collar is missing. Found it under the sofa table. Later, Zoey was scratching her neck and collar became loosen then fell right off. 3. Main reason why I don’t like, this made Zoey act WEIRD. She sat in the same place, same position for a good hour and did not move. Then she had weird twitches, like you could see random parts of her body, just slightly jump, and it was like it freaked her out. She would be laying there and the twitch she would run a few feet then immediately sit down. This went on for about 30 minutes. Then she slept for the ENTIRE day, did not move one inch. I woke her up and put her on the floor, she just moped, she acted so lethargic. I gave her some wet food, she wouldn’t eat, it’s her favorite. I decided to take the collar off. About 30 minutes later, she was acting like her normal self and she scarfed down the food. I don’t know if the collar traumatized her, or if the ingredients are too strong for her, or if the collar stressed her more. Since I have three extra collars I will hang on to these and may try another time, but, I will try the diffuser to see if that makes any difference.

Urine issues have stopped for now, and kitty is coming out more. I know nothing will stop it completely but its helping with a skittish kitty who hides all the time and that likes to pee on things. really happy with results

My kitty wore this collar with 2-3 finger spacing. I had it a little loose as I didn’t want her fur to get squashed however after a month of wear, one day I took it off and found fur around her neck to be patchy. It’s not just divided fur but patches of fur gone. It can’t be friction as I had the collar loosely fitted. My only guess is that she was allergic to it. Use with caution!
