Only pedal I'd use
I've been riding a set of the original eggbeater mallets for 7-8 years now. Bought these to try on the road bike first, and so I could use one pair of shoes on both bikes. Love'm so far, I'm going to by another set, and put the old mallets on my exercise bike.(I can't pedal ANYTHING without clips now) Eggbeaters blow Shimanos away, no more compromise between staying clipped and getting out. These pedals will NEVER release if you keep your foot inline, yet they come right out smooth as butter with a twist. No adjustment, no hard breakaway, they just release when you need them to. And almost never otherwise. The design is such that the harder you pull straight up, the tighter the jaws grab the cleat, but there's no socket like a Shimano, the float is in the shape of the cleat. A note on cleat angle. Stand with you feet in their natural position. Picture a line running perpendicular to where you're facing. You should install the cleat as close to this angle as possible. That way you won't be fighting it all the time. Everyone's stance is different, from pigeon-toed to slew-footed(that's me), you have to account for that to make it comfortable. And to prevent unwanted releases.

Perfect!
Bought these after having bought 3 different pairs of shoes, 3 different styles of mtb pedals. I was having trouble with severe foot pain in the ball of my foot as well as the lateral side of the 5th metatarsal. I also was having severe difficulties disengaging from my spd pedals, so much so, I would fall over at least a couple times each ride. My pedals were set at the loosest setting as well. Nothing seemed to help until I changed to a carbon fiber soled shoe, by Northwave (better fit for wider feet) and finally changed over to the crank brothers pedal. The pain in my feet completely went away and I didnt fall over for the first time in a year using these the first time! I was able to unclip easily and efficiently without getting hung up in the pedals. Highly recommend these and in combination with the Northwave shoes. Especially if you suffer from foot pain! Riding will be so much more enjoyable and pain free from here on out.

I wish I had purchased this product earlier
I decided to purchase this product to replace my stock platform pedals after a friend told me about the benefits of clipless pedals. Since purchasing these pedals, I have taken my bike out three times for a total of 98 miles. During these rides I have seen a significant boost in my bike riding performance, I went from averaging 12 mph on a typical 30 mile ride to averaging 14 mph over the same distance.Clicking in and out of the pedals is very simple and works all the time without problems. Another friend bought Shimanos at the same time. He has had a lot of problems disengaging his shoe from the pedals and spent his entire first ride adjusting the pedal tension. You cannot adjust the tension on the Crank Brothers pedal but there is no need to adjust. The tension is perfect out of the box.

Bought these for my wife as her first clip-less pedals.
The quality and the fit and finish is top-notch! The platform is sort of useless, but it is a confidence builder for the novice rider. My wife picked up the method of clipping in and releasing fairly quickly with this style of pedal. I did not want to scare her with SPD style pedals, which I feel has a steeper learning curve. The pedal catches the cleat easy enough with a four-sided entry. Installing them also requires an 8mm Allen wrench which is unique to most pedals. The only thing from keeping this from a five star rating is the fact that the cleat does not sit inside the shoe as flush as my Speedplay Frogs. I can see a purchase of new cleats in the near future. A great purchase for the money. Be safe out there!

But the Frogs were never perfect. These are much better in so many ways
I was using Speedplay, Frogs for about 8 years.I have knee problems so I was worried about switching to another type of pedal. But the Frogs were never perfect. These are much better in so many ways, and absolutely no problems with my knees.

Love these!
The Candys are so much better than my Shimano SPDs that they replaced. The 'egg beater' inside the pedal rotated around for a fast and predictable click in every time. This means that when on the trial, you KNOW you're getting in and out of that pedal without searching for the right spot. Mud and muck come out quickly and easily. Installation is a snap, just remember to use the wrench to tighten from the inside of the crank arm.

So sweet!
Can't 'egg' beat these! Switched from an eggbeater 1 to the candy 3's on my road bike and have not complained. The extra platform gives me more power and doesn't help my feet go into sleep/hurt for miles mode. Like the eggbeaters, I found these easy to click in and out of. If you are new to these, you'll have to spend all of about 10 minutes or so riding on them to get used to them. I suggest finding a grassy meadow or riding on a trampoline so that when you fall off of them, it won't hurt so bad. If you do ride these on a trampoline, please let me know how that worked out.I have a pair of eggbeaters on my mtb and with my switch to the candy's on my roadie, I might put these on the mtb. I ride singletrack and all mountain and the eggbeaters are more xc and very sketchy on downhills. These are the best click in pedals IMO because I can ride with regular shoes when just cruising around town doing a little shopping or trying to impress the ladies. Don't hold me the ladies part, I kinda made that up. :(

Cool pedals at an amazing price
What don't Amazon sell these days? Its been a while now since I bought these pedals so probably a good time to review them.Firstly I paid £55 for them here on Amazon and now they are £80 so thats a very hefty price increase. Having said that the Amazon price still seems to be lower than most other places. At £55 they were a bargain.I've clocked up many miles with the Candy 3s and have had my fair share of comedy falls whilst getting used to clipping in. Being on the small side, they are a little difficult sometimes to locate accurately when starting off, but once you're in, they are very comfortable. There is a good degree of flex so you dont feel locked down completely, but there again you don't ever feel as though you are going to unclip unexpectedly. I have had the odd shin whack due to slipping off the pedal whilst trying to clip in in a hurry, but that's just life I reckon.Getting out is quick and easy - when you remember. I have mine set up for the easiest exit angle and it works very well.Whilst setting up I did experiment quite a bit as my foot position just felt quite wierd, however it is worth playing around with the cleat positions to get your foot position right, and now it feels totally comfortable and natural. When I do venture back onto flats I want to get right back onto clips again.Regulalry maintained these pedals have given me faultless service depsite the relentlessly awful weather I seem to have been riding in forever.Over all Highly receommended!

Big improvement
These are a big jump forward in quality in the Candy range by Crank Bros. They feel solidly made with quality bearings and seem like the will give years of service. The cleats feel solidly fixed when riding and snap in and out with positive click. All this is of course reflected in the price you get what you pay for with kit like this.Ive fitted these to my road bike and the blue colour reflects a nice co ordinated effect too.All in all a nice product.

Great kit
Well made, run beautifully, the engagement is excellent and definitely offer more float than SPDs. My aged knees like these pedals a lot.

tough little pedals
A little pricey, but worth the cash. Very well made, and look classy. I rode them through a floood the other day which had absolutely no effect on their performance. If you want to go clippless, these are the pedals you want.
