My mistake. Didn't realize these were only 1". Useless for what I needed.

I needed to remove some old fossilized paper gasket material from the intake ports on an aluminum engine. Scraping was taking forever, and chemicals were making no dent. I turned to these. I'm glad I bought a box! I figured that I would need one or two, but ended up using eight pads for a little 4-cyl engine. I ran them literally down to the nub. Bristles were flying off (wear PPE!), and yellow dust was going everywhere. But they worked. I spent 30 minutes with these, and it took me 2 hours to scrape the last little bits I couldn't get around the studs. I bet it would have taken me 10 hours to do the block without 3M's assistance. The price was therefore well worth it. You have to buy a special adapter for a standard 1/4" die grinder if you want to use these. It is definitely not included. Oh, and the surface of the block is perfect. No marring, no cutting, no gouging, no scraping. I would be wary on somewhere critical like the deck, but for something less perfect like intake/exhaust runners, these will be gentle enough for you.

The product made it easy to remove the paper gasket from a Honda accord transmission case. I used about four roloc bristle disc to remove all the paper gasket.
