Twinkle Silver Polish Kit

This is a review of the Twinkle Silver Polish Kit. Twinkle silver polish is something I remember from childhood. My Mother used it to clean her sterling silver flatware, bowls and other pieces she had. Twinkle has been around for a long time. I continue to use it because it is one of the minimally abrasive cleaners available. It's best practice to use the least abrasive cleaning methods when cleaning Sterling and Silver plate. Particularly with Silver Plate, the actual layer of silver is so thin that abrasive cleaners can actually remove the silver leaving you with the base metal showing through. Not good. The "kit" that you get is nothing more than a container of Twinkle and a circular foam applicator pad. You damped the pad with water, dip it into the soft Twinkle paste and rub your silver pieces with it. Almost instantly the pad will turn black with removed tarnish. Consequently you want to fold the pad over to get a clean area and continue cleaning the silver. You will have to frequently rinse the pad in clear water and reapply a small amount of Twinkle to it and continue cleaning the silver until all traces of tarnish are gone. You will notice that the tarnished silver will initially have a yellowish tint to it but eventually it will have more of a white appearance as the tarnish is removed. Ultimately you end up with a gleaming piece of silver as it was meant to look. Twinkle leaves a protective layer on the silver that slows down future tarnishing. High humidity areas will accelerate the accumulation of tarnish so it is really helpful in those environments. An even less abrasive silver cleaner that I use is Blitz Silver Polish, Blitz 20633 2-Pack Silver Shine Liquid Polish . In addition to the foam pad included with the Twinkle, I also use cotton balls and/or cotton rounds or oval pads and cotton tipped sticks. These are inexpensive and not abrasive. It's easier to get into areas of detail than just using the foam pad.

I am very impressed with how well this worked on my old silver plated flatware. Polishing was fast and easy with little to no smell. The pictures show some before and after, but unfortunately I had already polished the most tarnished pieces. It’s hard to get good after photos because the surfaces shine like mirrors. I read that Twinkle is less abrasive than other brands and I worried I’d have to spend more time polishing, but it actually works better than two other silver polishes I recently tried. Now I have no excuse not to keep my silver polished.

I've been trying to polish silver for a year, honestly, but nothing seemed to work. I ordered this stuff, and it is absolutely fantastic. Just like magic, the tarnish comes off my silver. I dont think you'd fine a product anywhere that works better and quicker.

They should call it Twinkle little star, it works great. Now I'm demanding my joke!
