Got the dreaded job done
I wasn't sure because it was so cheap, but I needed this part and had already spent enough on the water pump. Way easier and faster than the engine crank method. The flywheel lock tool and socket did not break and got the horrible job done. It made it a little easier without risking any damage. I highly recommend this if you are changing your own water pump on a duramax. This was perfect for my LBZ.

Cheap and required to remove a crank balancer...
Used this for my LBZ Duramax so that I could lock the engine in order to remove the harmonic balancer. Due to the heavy torque on the balancer (>300 ft lbs) I had to use a 3/4" breaker bar that was over 5 feet long. This tool held the engine from turning so that I could remove the bolt, and then held it again so that I could torque the new bolt back on when done with the other work.

Good tool. Worth the money.
Makes changing the water pump on your Duramax a lot easier!! It comes with 2 flywheel holding pieces. One for 3/4 and 1 ton models. And another one for bigger models. The socket works great. I would also recommend getting the fan pulley holding tool for changing out the water pump. Makes the job a lot easier.

Great price on here!
Sure you could get this set off the tool truck but on here you get it for a steal! I have used these on a bunch of duramaxes with no issues at all and balancer bolts are over 300ft lbs. Tools are just as solid as they were was brand new. You won't have to worry about cranking over the engine with this tool. Though I suggest if you don't use 3/4 drive at all and want to use this socket get a low profile adapter to 1/2 drive. You will need a big breaker bar and long pipe to break the balancer bolt free.

Duramax
This product worked great. Nice hardened steel. My Duramax was an LMM and I used the socket with a 3/4 inch breaker bar. I used the flywheel key that did not have the bolt for my application. This setup saved me a lot of time and worked great while I was changing out the water pump. I watched a few you tube videos on how to install the flywheel key and that was simple to install. Sure did the job breaking the balancer loose and did the same for bolt install after I was done.

Exactly the tool I needed.
This tool was exactly the tool I needed. All of the components for my LB7 worked as advertised. You will need a way to drive the socket. It is a 3/4" drive. For me (LB7) the flywheel clamp worked just fine. The trick seems to be in removing that flywheel clamp when you're done. For me this required two people. One to wiggle the crank, the other to keep a little pressure on the clamp such that it would come out once the pressure is removed. Don't forget to put your flywheel inspection cover plate back on!

Awesome tool - well worth the money!
This tool easily pays for itself ... I had to change out the water pump on my 2005 GMC 2500HD with the 6.6 litre Duramax motor. The job requires you to pull the harmonic balancer which requires you to break free the 36mm 12 point bolt (may require up to 500 ft. lbs to braek it loss - despite the fact it only needs to be tightened to 260 ft lbs). Without this tool, many recommend pulling the starter and jamming something in to the fly wheel to hold the motor while breaking free that bolt - this entails a sh_t load of extra work ... this tool eliminate all of that. Just remove the little metal inspection plate on the left underside of the bell housing and slip the tool in there. Make sure it is seated properly, then break free the main pulley bolt ... easily (with the help of a long leverage bar)! Same tool is used to tighten that bolt to the 260 ft. lbs. spec! Well worth it and you get the 36mm 12 pt socket with the tool (which would cost roughly $10 at a parts store anyway!). Hope this helps and good luck on your water pump job (the tool will save you about an hours worth of work).

Essential tool set for anyone removing flexplate on duramax.
Essential tool set for anyone removing flexplate on duramax. My LBZ wouldn't hold to get enough force to break the bolts loose until this set arrived. Had a chewed up rear engine plate that the one lock did find a solution. Worth the cash, even if used only once. Thanks

Used this for Duramax water pump replacement and in conjunction with a 3/4" breaker bar. Definitely this is the right tool for the job and saved a bunch of time and is more safe and controlled compared to the method of socket and bar jammed against the frame and then a burst on the key/starter motor.
