Great for beginners!
I did a good amount of research and narrowed down my search to this spray gun, with the assistance of a paint and body professional that I know. The price was amazing, and everything was of good quality. Setup was as expected and the literature that comes with the kit explains the initial setup well. I did a few practice sprays before doing my first actual project. Everything worked out great and thos was a very easy gun to use. I am verh happy with the spray pattern and cannot wait to tackle a larger job!

Wow! Good spray guns to start with for the price!
Wow! For the price compared to other HVLP top line spray guns it is nice ! I bought a DeVibiss Plus+ and I want to say the Startingline spray gun did better! Maybe because the settings were easier to set? But I paint metallic black-chrome and pearl blue white on my mowers. I used both the detail gun and the base spray gun that came with the kit. The case I also love. It holds the items well. Only cons i can say is that some parts of the spray guns feels like plastic and to remove the spray tips with care. Also the detail gun spray needle leaked , but I fix it by lubricating the end of the spring-needle because it was dragging in the port. Just buy it if you do not want spend a lot of money on the high end spray guns. I recommend to have the lower knob: fan open wide and the fluid knob on the top almost closed or one to two turns open. I used a Mikita 5.2gal 3hp compressor. I paint one panel at a time with 20psi. Amazing results! Highly recommend !

Great spray guns for the price!
I have seen a few reviews stating these guns are made offshore. That is true and for this price that is what you should expect. It doesn't detract from the spray pattern you can get from each of these guns though. I have been painting cars for 35 years and have used cheap throw away guns up to my Sata remote gun system that cost nearly 2k so I know what a gun should and shouldn't do. With these guns being mass produced like they are there is a chance you can get a lemon so right when you get your guns test them with solvent. Put the cup on (hand tight only, if it leaks tighten slightly) and adjust the air at the gun very low 10-15 psi and see what kind of pattern you can get spraying against a brown piece of cardboard. Adjust the air pressure, fan width and volume (needle) until you get what looks like a cigar shape on the cardboard when you goose the gun real quick. If it is fat on top or bottom check that the gun is clean and try again. If it is still fat on top or bottom return them and get new ones. These guns have a pretty nice chrome finish which helps during clean up. Try and stay away from anodized guns and ones that are not smooth as paint is harder to clean from them. I recommend the "DeVilbiss DPC8 Spray Gun Cleaning Bottle - 16 oz. Capacity" found here on Amazon for $6.50. It will save you more than that on lacquer thinner in two cleanings. These guns need to be taken apart right after each use for cleaning. Treat the fluid nozzle and needle with care. If you drop them you will probably have to replace them to get a good pattern again. Most people using HVLP guns use way to much air pressure at the gun. Heavy bodied primers you might need 20 psi or so but base coats and thin clears stay around 10-15 psi. They use high volumes of air, not high pressure to atomize the fluid. See how low you can go and get good atomization on a test piece. Also make sure to use the correct fluid nozzle/needle for the material you are trying to spray. Thin material 1.0, med 1.3 and heavy stuff 1.8. At 1.8 I am not sure these can spray latex paint though.

Must buy for anyone
For price this is great for anything but paint! I’ve had this gun for over a year and it’s well built, if you are just getting into paint work this is a great gun for primer!!!

does good job and good value for price.
Very nice set for the price. The only thing is that you do you need a very good size air- compressor! I have an older 3 or 5 hp (2 stage) compressor on a 65 gallon tank and when painting a whole vehicle (especially when hot out and color, clears dry fast) my compressor will barely keep up.. it does keep up and I wouldn't hesitate to paint more vehicles with the gun. I'm just trying to help people out that are looking to use this at home that don't have a big compressor. Other than that it is a great kit! Does great job and not bad to clean.. the only thing i don't like it that it has a gasket between the cups and guns so i would recommend being careful when screwing the 2 together.

Perfect Replacement For My Old Paint Guns!
I bought this Paint Gun Set to replace the exact same guns I have used for the past six years. They've had a hard life and have shot everything from primer, sealer, enamel, basecoat, clearcoat and varnish. I have used them on bikes, sports cars, rods, boats and tractors. I am retiring the old guns for use as basic primer guns and use the new ones for finish coats and detailing. The PPG Dealer who sold them to me said they were th only guns I'd ever need and they have never disapponted me. These new guns are identical to my old ones. They are made by DeVilbiss and parts are readily available. With the high quality, HVLP compliant and a more than reasonable price I am looking forward to years of service from my new Paint Gun Set!

Did not work, 100% failure, had to be a machinest to fix it
Bought this name brand gun over the other choices that were half the price because I did not want to risk my paint job just to save a 100 bucks. The big day came when all the prep work was done and my 1976 VW bus was ready to paint with a 2K urethane primer followed by color coat. Opened up my brand new DeVILBISS HVLP box and inspected my shiny new toy. Pulled the trigger, the needle pulled back, released the trigger and the needle stayed right where it was, it was stuck open. Lucky for me I discovered this during a dry test. Had there been mixed and activated paint in the gun it would have been much much worse. The paint needle was getting stuck in the "housing" because the manufacturing tolerances were so poor. I tried both the 1.3 and 1.8 needles, both got stuck the same way. I decided to try to save and repair the defective gun by drilling out the housing. Fortunately a fractional drill was just the right size to chase out the housing to a proper clearance fit with the needle and problem solved. My second complaint, where is the regulator? It does not have one. It _looks_ like it does but that's only a flow control. You _must_ use a regulator at the gun to keep a steady pressure. The regulator at the compressor is useless due to pressure drops through the air hose. and the air volume control? Also missing. It has a place for one but its plugged up. Pretty sure their plan is to rely on the "flow control that looks like a regulator but is not a regulator" device. All in all I wish I had bought the cheaper TCP that came with 3 guns, that came with a regulator and dryer/filter, and the guns have real air flow controls. If I had to drill out parts of that gun I would not be upset as for the price what can you expect? But drilling out parts of a DeVILBISS gun? Unacceptable. UPDATE AFTER REPAIRING AND USING After I fixed the factory defect I used the gun to spray a 2K primer and 2K single stage color coat. The gun was reliable and worked well producing a nice cigar shaped spray pattern. I used the 1.8 nozzle for the primer and the 1.3 nozzle for the color coat. I added a regulator/water trap right at the gun and set the dynamic (as in with trigger pulled and air flowing) pressure at 30 PSI. My only complaint is that I would have preferred a clear paint cup. You can not see the amount of paint left in your cup with the supplied aluminum cup and if you run out mid spray you will end up with a poor finish in that area. Ask me how I know :) Tip for painting a VW bus or any vehicle with long horizontal surfaces is to spray the sides top to bottom and not left to right. I only realized this after I finished, pretty sure it would have resulted in a higher quality finish with less sand + polish. Note you have to rotate the nozzle 90 degrees to make your cigar fan pattern horizontal.
