Brilliant! Out of the box it was a bit ...
Brilliant! Out of the box it was a bit simple, but a firmware upgrade (which was available right away) gave me a ton of extra features. I travel a lot, and wanted the ability to use my own network wherever I go. This solves everything, and allows me to work around the usual hotel problems of devices not being able to see each other, only one device per room etc. The router is also tiny. It is smaller than most match boxes and so light it almost feels empty. The WiFi signal from it is more than adequate for a large hotel room (my last trip was a three-bed suite and had full signal throughout). It also powers off a micro-usb, so it can be powered from anywhere, even TV usb ports etc... I have used it with both wired and wireless internet and its been flawless. Highly recommended for the serious traveller. And it works great with the chromecast!

Not easy to setup but here's 10 easy steps
Does the job after some faffing. Hooked up to a YouView box in the bedroom and plays all OD stuff. Here's how I eventually managed to set it up. 1 - Connect The TP Link to the mains 2 - Use phone or laptop/PC to hook up wirelessly 3 - The password is the 8 digit serial number 4 - open a browser and go to 192.168.0.254 5 - Select quick setup 6 - Select Client 7 - Follow on screen instructions 7.5 - Change the TP Link IP to one that suits your MAIN router (ie. 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.0.254 etc) 8 - Reboot TP Link 9 - Relocate to where needed 10 - Power up and use Ethernet lead to the device And that's it. Simple. Excellent range on the device - very very small - flashing lights aren't a problem - superb little gizmo for making wired devices wireless. Hope this helps people.

Highly recommended as a simple Access point
Excellent. I'm using it in access point mode to extend wifi up to a loft extension bedroom which had weak wifi signal due to distance from main router and the modern building regs foil backed insulation everywhere. Ethernet cable runs up to the room Just connected to ethernet, spent literally 5 minutes setting it up (there is an enclosed paper instructions, but also setup videos on youtube) Set it to the same SSID and password as my main wireless router (use a different channel to stop them arguing) Now my bedroom sky box and Smart TV and Chromecast are connected to this access point (after a power cycle). My laptop and phone seamlessly switch between this and the main wireless router downstairs depending on the strongest signal. Simple to set up (with a surprisingly good web interface with plenty of options). Small enough to hide away in a corner and works really well with no fuss.

Fantastic value for money
As with every TP-Link product I have purchased, this worked straight out of the box. It has been purchased ahead of a trip to Madeira to a hotel we have stayed at before where wifi is available in the public areas but only an ethernet connection in the rooms. I have tested it on my own home network by plugging into a spare port on a switch in my home network located in a room in a corner of our fairly large house and found I could access it via an ipad (air 2) and my wife's Samsung tablet throughout the house, even at the furthest point from the unit. A hotel room should prove no issue. Physically the unit is tiny - about the size of two matchboxes side by side - and therefore highly portable and ideal for going on your travels. The only comment I have on setting it up was that you need good eyesight to read the access password which is printed on the base of the unit. I had a couple of false starts with this inputting incorrect passwords before a magnifying glass came to the rescue. Once I had the correct password everything worked exactly as it said on the tin! For less than £20, its an absolute bargain!

Lasted 5 days
Was an absolute breeze to setup. Took 5 mins and had my phone hotspot connected, shared through this device, WiFi printer and enabled my laptop, other phone and tablet to print. Signal strength was great and it worked perfectly. Suddenly stopped working after 5 days, the laptop refused connection, went through every trouble shooting guide, nothing worked. TP Link support never responded. Unfortunately now being sent back because it's as useful as a brick.

After multiple failed attempt to provide internet connection to a device without wifi capability, decided to try this travel router in client mode. Instruction was clear, setup was smooth, and it performs well so far. Inexpensive and solid option for anyone looking for wifi-to-ethernet adapter. Very happy with the purchase.
