PINK FLOYD / DARK SIDE OF MOON - Vinyl LP. The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth album by the English rock band Pink Floyd. Originally released on 1 March 1973, on the label Harvest, it built on ideas explored in the band's earlier recordings and live shows, but departs from instrumental thematic by founding member Syd Barrett. The album explores themes including conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state. - Developed during live performances, an early version was premiered several months before recording began; new material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road in London. The group used some advanced recording techniques at the time, including multitrack recording and tape loops. Analogue synthesizers were prominent in several tracks, and snippets from recorded interviews with Pink Floyd's road crew and others provided philosophical quotations throughout. Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many distinctively notable sonic aspects and the recruitment of non-lexical singer Clare Torry. The album's iconic sleeve, designed by Storm Thorgerson, depicts a prism dispersing light into colour and represents the band's lighting, the record's thematic material, and keyboardist Richard Wright's "simple and bold" design request. •Stereo remastered album on heavyweight 180g vinyl •Original UK release date: March 1973 •Certified 15 times platinum in the US and 14 times platinum in the UK •Reached number one in the UK and the US •Topped Billboard Top LPs and Tapes and charted for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988 •Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best selling worldwide 2016 version Remastered from the original analogue tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante, and Bernie Grundman. Review: Does this album really need any introduction? - This is the best-selling album of ALL TIME, and for good reason. It's an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. There are no filler songs, it's just one beautiful and continuous piece of art that all fits together. And of course it sounds wonderful on vinyl! Review: Very nice pressing. Great sounding remaster and jacket is beautifully reproduced. - If you are looking for a very nice, quality pressing of this classic, without being crazy about hunting down a first UK pressing that was hardly played (good luck with that) and paying way too much of your hard-earned cash for a slab of plastic inside a sheet of cardboard, (but I kind of get it) then this is a fantastic sounding option for your turntable. Not only does this remaster sound amazing, the album's jacket is also made very well, with a matte finish, high quality paper stock and very nice print of the original artwork. I like it much better than the older/original prints with the standard glossier stock that I owned in the past (and I've been around awhile and own a few records). It feels very satisfying to pick up and admire. (You'll know what I mean when you get yourself a copy.) So, for a reasonable price, you get to own a wonderful sounding pressing of a great classic, in a great package. You cannot get much better than this IMO. AND it comes with quality reproductions of the 2 posters and 2 post cards that the original pressings came with, in a gatefold (of course). Super sweet. Just buy it already and stop searching and concerning yourself with its quality. Because this pressing is fantastic!

Timeless classic now in its original format
I wont review the album itself as we know it is one of the best and most innovative Progressive Rock albums ever made. My review is of the physical album and my experience receiving it and playing it as well as overall impressions. I received the vinyl version of The Dark Side of the Moon as part of Amazon's Vinyl of the Month Club: The Golden Era. The album arrived in a specially made cardboard shipping sleeve packed in a slightly larger box. The album itself and was in a sealed wrapper and was free of flaws, bends or scratches. Once unwrapping it I immediately took note of the jacket and its nice thick quality mat material, opening the jacket reveals the track listing as well as some production info and the portentous message that "all music and lyrics were composed by Roger Waters". The inside features an album sleeve with the album inside and is accompanied by a collectible poster featuring all four band members in a psychedelic quadrant style format. The vinyl record was free of any issues, smooth, a decent weight and laid flat on the platter in my Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB. Starting it up and playing it in its entirety I experienced no skips, crackles or other audio issues and the sound quality itself was amazing. This again is one of the greatest records ever made and having it in this quality vinyl format and presentation makes a wonderful addition to any record collection. I highly recommend it!

A hidden diamond in the mound of new vinyl trash!
Taking the time out of a busy day to drop a few words here - I pretty much hate all newly pressed vinyl, especially if they're digitally sourced. Also, 80% of the new vinyl I've purchased has been returned because it was so badly warped and/or dished. Often, the replacements were just as bad or worse, and I just gave up and continued to search for an original pressing. Well, this here, is truly a diamond in hidden in the mound of new vinyl trash these days. Not only is it actually a flat piece of vinyl, the remastering by Bernie Grundman is second to none. Every positive thing you read about this 2016 remaster is true. If you read something negative, it's because the person reviewing it either has hearing loss or is playing it on a junk system. I'm playing this on a 15k rig with a 4k turntable and a DynaVector 1.2k cartridge - I can assure you, this is the best damn version of DSOTM I've ever heard. I'm hearing things never heard before, or as clear, from either a digital or analog source. I don't know if this was an all-analog production stream or not, but frankly, as amazing as this sounds, I don’t care. And by the way, it sounds very analog, regardless of whether the production chain was 100% analog or not. I’ve been trying to find a first pressing of this, but finding one in vg+ or nm is getting hard to do, especially at a price that is not above the Goldmine price value. Frankly, now that I have this reissue, I could live happily if I never find a first pressing. With me saying that last sentence and the fact that I generally hate new vinyl, should say something about what an outstanding remaster/pressing this is. If you buy this and don’t think it’s the best, or as good to the best, you’ve ever heard, then I would say you need to upgrade your analog rig. Truly, an outstanding product on many levels – I have to say, this (along side Classic Records, Columbia “Kind of Blue”) is the best reissue vinyl in my collection.

As I've never owned a version of this classic album and as it is the 50th anniversary coming up this year (2023) I thought I'd better put in in my collection. Still a great listen!

The vinyl is dead flat, heavy and perfectly centred. The lead in track even before a spin cleaning were so quiet a I had to crank my volume control to make certain everything was on. This far surpasses my original near mint pressing in dynamics, and clarity from beginning to the end of each side, where my other copies suffer inner groove distortion. Tracking is perfect, even with a high compliance cartridge/stylus on a medium tonearm. The album jacket is less glossy than my original or reissue, and this is beautiful. I took a chance because the feature is not in the description, but it's a gorgeous gatefold, with all the inside goodies. Truly a wonderful product at a sensational price for all you get. Tremendous job!
