Very nostalgic for my collection

Original review (2-star) My daughter is a year and a half old and loves books and stories. We've been delighted to read her so many different books. Lately, she has gravitated toward a really long and wordy Alice book that we have, so we bought this version to shorten the read and still give her the same story. The story is jumpy, it glosses over elements of the story that are fun, the pictures don't have everything that the words on the page describe, and is overall very rushed. Children's books are children's books. There are a lot of wonderful books that are put together in creative ways and tell fun, interactive stories. This version of Alice feels very mailed in. UPDATE: My husband actually wrote this while logged into my Amazon account. We laugh about it now, because honestly who cares if it's abridged -- of COURSE it's abridged! It's a Golden Book based on a Lewis Carrol novel. The bottom line is that our daughter LOVES this book. "Alice" is one of the first books she began asking for by name at around 18 months old. It teaches the main elements of the story and introduces the characters. There's plenty of time for her to discover the original.

The book was perfect. The only thing I would caution is that the story is very very short and leaves a lot out.
