Attached this bar to a four-drawer filing cabinet that holds sensitive paperwork. The drill bit that came with the installation for the cabinet's metal was easy to handle when installing, and the padlock was locked with ease, without sticking. The bar fit flush along the edge, so when the drawers were open and unlocked, it didn’t feel any different than before. In any locked situation, the drawers could not be opened, providing clear physical security for documents at my workspace.

Got this for a standard at home four drawer file cabinet. The beige color pretty much matches the color of the file cabinet, just looks a touch fresher since it's not really old. The installation was super easy, but you will need a drill to make the holes. It was nice that this set came with a drill bit that was the correct size for the screws you get with it. It was pretty much: install the lock knob, mark and drill the holes in the file cabinet (8 total), then line up and screw the lock into the cabinet. If you're not planning on having the bottom of the lock bar touch the floor, you'll want to put something under it to secure it while you're marking the hinge holes on the file cabinet. The only minor gripe I have with it is that the four hinges don't exactly line up with the line of the file cabinet. It was plenty enough to secure the lock, but basically on the top and bottom hinges, they line up with the opening of the file cabinet door, while the two middle hinges end up a bit away. I may have been able to manipulate it a little to get them to line up, but it still looks ok and the drawers still lock securely so for me it wasn't even enough to knock a star out. This lock will work well to keep random people out of the drawers for sure, and would recommend for basic file cabinet security. It probably won't keep someone out who really wants in and has a good crowbar or claw hammer, but for just keeping people out of the cabinet it'll be just fine.

This was exactly what I needed. Very easy to install — watched a short video and ran into no issues. Took less than 15 min. I will be buying a few more for the office. I didn’t give it a 5-star rating only because I bought a couple that came with padlocks and found the keys were interchangeable and fit both locks. So that might not work in an office if more than one are being used, and you want/need a unique lock for higher security purposes. You can just buy your own padlock for an easy fix.

Easy to install and works

Simple way to make an old filing cabinet more secure. Would not stand up to a determined break in, but good enough for restricting access in most cases. Was straightforward to fit following the instructions. Very useful that the drill bit and padlock are provided.
