Best automatic litter box both value and functionality
I’ve owned many litter boxes, from manual to robotic, and I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years. Honestly, this is the best one I’ve had in terms of value and functionality. It’s easy to assemble and maintain, has enough automation that you don’t need to get in there to clean it, and it looks good. Cleaning the unit itself is also straightforward. For one very active cat, it can hold waste for about a week, though you may want to empty it more often to control odor. My cat likes it too. I have a large 18-lb orange cat who usually finds a reason for me to replace litter boxes, but this one has lasted a year and a half without issues. Highly recommended.

Great investment! Cat likes it, too
Update: 2/26/25 I now have 3 cats and live in a new home and still love this litterbox! Absolutely no regrets or issues even after ~a year later. Highly recommend this still. Since the only place I can have a litter box for my cat is in my room, I wanted something that would help keep the odor down. This works amazing, is very quiet, and I do not have to worry about litter box smell in my room anymore (even with frequent scooping, it still always smelled after a stinky kitten poo). I set this to manual for the first few days so my kitten could get used to it without spooking, and once he was going in it well, I switched over to automatic. I recommend going to press the run button a few times a day when you set it to manual so your cat has more opportunities to get used to the movement and sound, as well as keep it clean for your cat. My only complaint, is the cord does NOT stay in very well, and my cat accidentally bumped it out mid cycle. This ended with urine in just sitting in there (I put some litter over it to soak it up) and my cat pooping right outside his box (not his fault, there was no litter for him to go in). I had to tape the plug down, which seems to help. Don't feel it deserves a full star off for that though, so I still give this product 5 stars. You also really have to fight to get a different sifter in, but at least it's in there good lol I use clumping wood pellets and that seem to work fairly well in this. My cat was having some respiratory issues that I thought could be because clay litter, and started the switch with no issues. Be prepared to lose a bit more litter than you would with clay, unless you get a litter with smaller pieces (I use OkoCat and that brands offers litter with smaller pieces that I might switch to instead of the larger pellets) which you might have more success with. IF you want to try wood based litter, make sure it's clumping litter, or it won't work though. There is also a corn based litter by Sustainably Yours that I have heard works VERY well in robotic litter boxes as it forms very hard clumps (many say better than clay litters), just note some cats like to try and eat corn litter. If you're unsure if you should get it or not, I really recommend it! Just make sure you have some good tape on hand for the plug in case yours is also a bit loose lol

EDITED REVIEW: TWO YEARS: Quality and Reliability Concerns, but Customer Service is a gem.
I purchased the CATLINK Self Cleaning Cat Litter Box in July 2023. I was reasonably satisfied with the unit- while I wouldn't say the unit was odor free- it significantly reduced the amount of time I spent scooping- which made me happy. It also allowed me to travel for work without needing to find someone to come and scoop poop twice a day. Overall I was satisfied with my purchase despite the exorbitant initial cost- it really helped me live my life. In June of 2025- so not quite a full two years- my scooper stopped operating correctly. the unit stayed in 'empty' mode. I reached out to CATLINK's customer support- who talked me through several periods of troubleshooting. Ultimately- as a 'good faith' effort- they sent me a replacement base. Which provided welcome relief- since the initial cost was high and I sincerely didn't have it in my budget to buy a replacement unit. It should be mentioned- that when you are paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a poop scooper product that is simply plastic and a few basic electronics- I would expect exceptional customer service committed to customer satisfaction- CATLINK delivered that service and again- I was happy. After little over 2 months- the replacement base also stopped operating correctly. I reached back out to Customer Service for assistance- and proceeded through the many back and forth emails to troubleshoot only to find out that this unit also needs repair/replacement. This process has taken nearly a month to identify a solution- they will not offer a complimentary replacement but will allow me to purchase a replacement base at a 'discounted' rate but they are on backorder and they are unable to provide me with a timely solution. I did ask if they could assist by providing a discount code for Amazon- since Amazon does have the unit in stock- but they declined my request as not an available option. Out of frustration I stopped communicating with Catlink’s Customer Service and focused on finding competent cat care because I had another flight to catch. When I returned from my trip- I found several emails from Catlink’s Customer Service- following up, offering assistance. The holidays happened, and then I was on another flight. I just returned to find more emails from Catlink’s Customer Service- as well as a voicemail asking me to respond so they can coordinate my second replacement unit. This level of Customer Service is exceptional. Their dedication to making things right should be acknowledged and as such- I am happy to give them another chance. For the most part I was always satisfied with the unit- because it significantly reduces the amount of time spent scooping daily and is a reliable solution when I am traveling. If you replace the bag weekly: the smell is so minimal, and most people say they don’t smell anything- its just my hypersensitive nose. The inconvenience of dealing with occasional breakdowns can’t be ignored- however- it is my sincere hope that I have just had the unfortunate luck of receiving a couple ‘lemons’ and the next replacement unit will operate for years to come. I will continue to update this review as needed if anything changes.

Best purchase I’ve made. - CatLink Automatic Litter Box
For years, I used a traditional cat litter box that required manual scooping, which was always a chore. After researching several options, I decided to purchase the Cat Link automatic litter box two years ago, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. Pros: • Ease of Use: From setup to cleaning, this product is incredibly user-friendly. It’s made managing my cat’s litter box so much easier. • Safety Features: I love the built-in safety features that ensure my cat is protected while the unit operates. It gives me peace of mind. • Quiet Operation: The Cat Link is impressively quiet. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being completely silent, I’d give it a 2. You can barely hear it, and even then, it’s only noticeable in a dead-silent room, usually at night. Neutral: • Size: This is a fairly large unit, so you do need ample space for it. The user manual also states that it must be freestanding to ensure the sensors function properly, which could limit where you place it. Cons: • The only downside I’ve encountered is that the rotating globe sometimes leaks a bit of urine during the cleaning process, causing a small spill outside of the unit. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of. (Update: May 2025) turns out my car has perfect aim at shooting her urine through the opening at the back of the globe where everything empties out of when turning, so the con isn’t as much that the globe leaks but my cat is known as a “high pisser.” Thankfully I found a solution that works for me but does require a DIY version of a mud flap. Overall, I highly recommend this product. It’s made cat care so much easier, and I can’t imagine going back to a manual litter box!

Definitely get it.
Absolutely worth the purchase. I am terrible with habits, and being able to press a button in the morning and evening, instead of having to sift litter? I love it. The only issue I have, is the automatic. I think it's just this unit, because there were signs it had been returned, and I suspect because of this reason: it stops halfway through the cycle. I sorted that when I set it on manual, and just press the button to start the cycle. I do my morning tasks, and when I come back through, I press the start button again to finish the cycle. It usually doesn't stall more than once, unless the tray at the bottom is full. One thing I don't like is the part where the litter gets stuck on the bottom. I do, however think that is a litter type issue, and nothing to do with the unit. I'll adjust later when I need more litter. It is easy to keep clean, that's nice. I like that it doesn't wiggle. The amount of litter that it holds could be better, but I understand why it isn't, at least on this unit. Again, I think with a different litter type, it will sort that issue. It says not to balance it on anything, but I need it up high. Like my cats, I do really well with convenience, and the more convenient the thing is, the more likely it'll be done when it needs to be. I have maybe the back 3-4 inches hanging off the table, but it hasn't affected the unit. The table is sturdy, so no worries about it falling. It fits in the corner I have it in, so it's all in all fantastic. Definitely worth getting.

A good and (comparatively) cheap automatic litterbox
I have been using this for about 6 months now. I have 2 cats and this litterbox works well. They were both very wary of it at first but after a week or so started using it. To train them, I put their old litterbox beside the CatLink, full of litter. After they left presents in the old box, I put one or two in the cat link to give it the "smell" and then stopped empyting the old one. It made the room smell bad for a bit, but eventually my cats got the memo and started using the CatLink. My cats had previously refused to use an enclosed box before, so if yours are already okay with that then the transition will probably be smoother for you. One of my cats is quite large too, at about 17-18 lbs and he uses it with no issues. For litter, I have used Arm and Hammer Slide with this and it works great. The Slide litter is great no matter what box it is in as it keeps clumps from sticking to the box. The litter itself is fairly small/fine, about the consistency of steel cut oatmeal. It flows through the filter in the CatLink with no issue and then right back into the main chamber after it is cleaned. Definitely recommend the Slide litter with this box even though it is a little pricier than other brands. There is a manual (cleans when you push the button) and automatic mode (cleans about 30 seconds after your cat leaves the box). I used manual for the first couple months but now I run it completely automatic with no real issues. With my 2 cats, the storage container holds exactly one week of spent litter so I replace the liner weekly when I empty my normal household trash. Occasionally the pan will show as full near the end of the week. However, the litter is deposited in the left side of the tray so I take the pan out and give it a quick shake to distribute it evenly and it's good to go until trash day. In automatic mode it does control smell really well. I hardly ever smell anything at all unless the collection pan is nearly full and I am within 10 feet of the litterbox. The only real negative I can note is that when it cleans and the main chamber rotates, it makes a weird high pitched "squeegee" sound. It's a little annoying but it more concerns me because it sounds like parts rubbing together, which is always bad for anything mechanical. Maybe it is a legit squeegee that catches litter, I'm not sure. I got this during black Friday where it had $150 off the base price of $500, which is also going on now at the time I write this review. It's a lot to pay for a litterbox, but I decided that for around $370 after tax, if I got one solid year of use then that's just a little over a dollar a day to never have to scoop again. 6 months in, that has been my experience. If this thing keeps working till November then suddenly stops working, I would probably buy another. Update 12/02/2024 (a little over a year of use): Still working and still pretty happy with it. The liner bags are available here on Amazon but I have also discovered that you can really use the liners multiple times, at least with the brand of litter I use. You can pop the tray out and dump the spent litter into another trashbag. The automatic mode is a little finicky. It sometimes stops emptying and I'm not sure why, it just flashes the red error light like it detects a full tray even if it's not. I let it run a day or two and checked on it to find that it hasn't emptied (after my cats start going on the floor outside of it). I pretty much use it exclusively in manual mode now but it's still way better than scooping because I just have to press a button 1 or 2 times a day and then dump the tray in my household garbage at the end of the week. All in all after a year, I still am really happy with my purchase and if it went kaput today I would have had that roughly $1.00 per day to not worry about scooping for a full year, so I would order another if I got it at the same ~$375 price or cheaper.
