Works well and durable
These poles have been useful during emergency cover from the rain. They are durable and extremely sturdy. They are easy to use and break down to a manageable size to put away in a bin

VERY HEAVY DUTY
A lot of tarp poles are very this. These are thick and sturdy. Put them in a flag pole holder and you will have something that will not bend with a strong wind. You can also use additional poles from the second pole to make a long and short pole if you need an extra long pole. I do this with the long pole being the center pole amd I can use the shorter poles to direct rainwater wherever I want it.

Make sure you buy the right "color" to get poles or tarp.
Updated 8/1/17 - The seller contacted me due to my review and promised to fix the descriptions so no one makes the mistake that I did thinking it came with the tarp and poles. We did use the poles to add a standard blue tarp in front our tent to give us a little porch for shoes during the rain. They worked well and seemed quite sturdy. We just used some rope and extra tent stakes to secure them. I like that they are adjustable as well. It would be nice if they folded up a bit smaller, but since we were in a drive up site, it didn't matter too much for us. If you were backpacking or had to hike to your site, it might be more of an issue. We haven't used the poles yet so the quality remains to be seen. I'm giving 1 star because this listing is terrible. I was looking for poles and also needed a tarp. Because the description for the POLES talked about the tarp, I assumed it came with one. When the poles showed up without a tarp, I went back and see there are multiple colors of poles, one of which is a tarp and the description is all about the tarp. Terribly confusing listing and now I'm leaving on a camping trip with heavy rain expected and no tarp. I'm very unhappy. This could easily have been avoided by simply separating the listings for the tarp and the poles. Now that I have to go out and buy a tarp separately, if these poles are any good I will return and update to give credit where it is due. In the meantime, be careful what color you are choosing to make sure you get the item(s) you were expecting. I highly doubt I will ever buy from this seller again after this experience, however.

A Vital Tool In The Car Camper's Toolkit
I have a total of six tarp poles in my car camping kit. I ordered these specific ones twice now, so it's probably time for me to create a review. These days, I'm an avid car and airplane camper. I'll travel practically anywhere, through any mode of transportation, for the opportunity to get a little bit of camping in. I like to camp in the lap of luxury while still "roughing it" as I'm one of those staunch tent campers. I'll go out against practically any weather condition. Rain is certainly on of the more formidable issues when this is your thing. Of course, I'm well versed in tarps and general camp protections. I bought a pair of these ages ago. They were used well, worked fine and generally did exactly what I needed them to do. I survived many an inconvenient weather systems with them. I didn't really appreciate what I had, though. I planned a camping trip where I expected 7 inches of rain during my brief stay. My plan involved a place that I wasn't familiar with, I didn't know what - if any - trees I would have at my disposal to tie off to. It urgently came to my attention that the two poles in my kit wasn't going to satisfy my preparation requirements. So, I moseyed on down to my trusty REI where I walked away with ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS worth of TWO tarp poles. I immediately placed an order for a second pair of these. If four tarp poles was barely good enough, six pairs at half that price was essential for my kit. So, let's compare them. I'll admit, my REI poles that I paid ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for are certainly more robust than these. Those REI poles are larger in diameter and in most ways, might be considered more capable. But they're not made from titanium or silver bullion! They are essentially quite similar in make and operation, it's really only a matter of size and maybe some degrees of stability. I'm not unfamiliar with rigging and setting poles. I can do fully freestanding, lean-to's, A-frames or various other combinations of tarp rigging. In most cases, I prefer to integrate anything I can use in my environment over setting another pole. Your rigging is what matters, it's what creates structure and rigity. I'd pull out any of the tarp poles in my kit, including these, and be totally fine through practically any condition I'd camp through. I'll admit, I'm not trying to survive through hurricanes. But, I do camp a fair bit in Alaska. It's hard for me to imagine Florida as a more formidable place. I've now broken these poles out through my fair share of crummy situations and have always managed to have a good time. They aren't invincible, but if anything, that's my reason for having six poles. There are lots of Chinese make tarp poles out there, they're all pretty similar. These are the ones in my kit and I bought them twice. They aren't the most amazing tarp poles, but I haven't managed to break them despite pitting them against the elements. I think if you're confident in your rigging these are good. And if you're still learning tarp rigging techniques, there's a lot less riding on these poles compared to some.

Good poles
Held up to moderate winds during a weekend camping trip. Used thes to hold up a tarp that was coving my tent. Worked great. It dropped into the 20s and the poles froze up

Cheap and weak not for any type of serious outdoorsman
Well these poles seemed like a great idea at the time. I have the MSR Rendezvous rain fly and it came with 2-poles that are of a great quality but, at times I need more height and a second set of poles can provide that. These poles extend out and I was conscious of the fact that if they were extended too far they would lose some structrural integrity so I made sure not to extend them too far. I have had my rain fly up in some really tough conditions and never had a problem until I used these poles (for a SINGLE trip). One small breeze came up and snapped both poles in unison the tarp then came down and tore itself on the busted poles. So to say the least you get what you pay for these are absolute garbage!! I will update this review and support at least the seller if they honor a full refund. The MSR poles were obviously fine and will be used on the next trip after I repair the rip in my $200 rain fly.

Too bulky for backpacking
I think these are great camping poles and would be great for kids’ play tent building or short distance carry for camping. I bought them to use while dayhiking the Appalachian Trail and the pole segments were too long, it didn’t fold small enough for my purpose. I would have loved it if the segments folded to 12” and the tubes were smaller diameter. It seems very sturdy and the poles extend high, higher than I needed. I hope they make a scaled down version.

Bomber poles. Not the lightest, but light enough. Bomber
We use these for a bug house type shelter. They are great. While a lighter set up is possible, these are easy to use, versatile and reliable. Love em.
