Typecast Retro Typewriter by We R Memory Keepers | Mint 49.5 x 19.8 x 39.6 cm

At first I thought this typewriter was damaged or poor quality. Letters typed at different heights, the spacing between lines was always changing and sometimes writing at a slant… and then I reread the instructions. I played with the settings until I got them how I wanted them. It turned out the product was fine. The problem was me. I thought since I was so good at typing on a keyboard that using a typewriter would just be a modest effort to transition. I was wrong and accept that lol. Typewriting is a skill. So, read the manual, read about the parts and just practice. Once you get the hang of it, it’s super fun!

I meant to buy a different typewriter but it looks just like this one. I realized my mistake when i received what essentially amounts to a semi-functional ornamental typewriter. It's very physically taxing to use, it's too cheaply made for its price, it came with a bunch of pieces falling out, and i have no idea why I didn't just look at the name of the thing I ordered before I waited half a month for a plastic box of disappointment, which by the way, came without a case, meaning I can take it all of 0 places without sticking it in the ugly cardboard box and lugging it around hoping it doesn't break if a feather lands on it.

Impressive and beautiful! I was worried due to some of the reviews being so low. However, it is a great piece and functions similar to a vintage typewriter. We LOVE it! I will use it for journaling and my teen is using it for writing stories. It has a beautiful font and provides an attractive written body of work. I had forgotten how lovely typeset literature looks. It is truly wonderful to have and adds to the decor of my office. Lovely!

The C key taps oddly. The hand lever return stops dome times. Big issue was the ribbon stopped. I found this tiny curled wire stuck on ribbon. It ripped the ribbon. Will be calling CS if this is a necessary part or some sort trash got inside. My hands are arthritic and really wanted a typer long time. Disappointed.

The product is cheaply made and, although it looks retro, the build is certainly modern and flimsy. Several of the keys failed to hit the page evenly and thus the type was off. I'm sorry to say we had to send this one back.

Doesn’t work, waste of money, did not say ‘decorative’ in description when purchased. Has all capabilities to be functional but the paper slide doesn’t stay put.

Came in 3 days w/ prime . Great color varieties. Works great . Perfect for writing my first book. Can be used also as a gift idea you know people are finding out that I am writing three books total I am going to have them printed up and give them to each of my sons and it'll be their story you know things happen throughout their life when they were born maybe some ideas about their mom and dad and their history so I'm just super excited to get my ideas on paper and I don't have to depend on charging or plugging up you know this is just great 😃

I hadn't heard from the seller for a while after i purchased it and when i contacted them about my order it was shipped immediately which was nice. Sucked that it charged my card so long after the purchase though because it came out of nowhere and i had believed i'd already paid for it. Anyway It arrived very fast and it looks wonderful. I haven't experienced any issues yet. From all the awful reviews i was very unsure about purchasing this. However, it feels very sturdy and the buttons feel great thus far. Beautiful piece and i hope it lasts. Update: Now that i've pulled it out and taken a good look at it i am a little disappointed. That typewriter itself is great and i love it, however the one i received is totally used and marked up. There was a really old piece of paper in the field when it arrived that had ink all over it. It was covered in yellow stains. The ribbons were so dry they cracked as i took them out and they were all tangled in the mechanics. Pretty cheeky to send a product in such a condition. Overall im happy with the typewriter but i believe i'm entitled to some compensation or money back considering the state it arrived in.

La máquina de escribir se ve con un buen ensamblaje pero algunas partes internas son de plástico, espero que aguanten con el tiempo y el uso, el color es bonito y funciona muy bien. Lo único que no me gusto tanto (y que ya sabía desde que revisé el producto) es que el teclado es en inglés, no tiene ñ y tampoco acento. Pero tiene la tecla de @ y también de 1/2 y 1/4, eso me gusta. Me da mucho gusto que se sigan produciendo las máquinas de escribir, son muy útiles más allá de toda esa tecnología de que hoy se dispone.

I absolutely adore this typewriter. I wanted to buy one when I first came across them a few years ago but by the time I'd decided to commit, they were all out of stock with no apparent re-stock time frame. When I saw that they were being re-stocked earlier this month, I couldn't miss my chance again. From the minute I opened the box, I was in love and knew I'd made the right choice. Yes the buttons are stiff to press and the machine sticks in places whilst typing but my dad (who actually learnt to type on an old typewriter) says that is authentic! Please don't let this put you off because you do get used to these 'quirks'. I went for the mint colour machine and it really is beautiful!

He pedido devolución, es muy lamentable que siendo tan cara no funcione el interlineado ni puedas cambiar de línea. Es lo más básico, algo como que la máquina te cambie de línea para seguir escribiendo y parece que no funciona. Como si solo estuviera concebida para escribir una única línea. He mirado el vídeo de youtube pero a mi no me cambia de línea, el 2 de interlineado ni siquiera se puede poner porque hace límite la chapa. El vídeo de youtube es muy, muy rápido, cuesta seguirlo. Tampoco tiene acentos. La ñ creo que tampoco está, ni me acuerdo. El tipo de color H y L lo mismo da, escribe con la tinta gastada como si se hubiera secado la tinta. Seguramente porque la tendrán durante años en stock y se habrá secado. Da igual, ya compraré un carrete... pero hay más fallos, como no poder cambiar de línea. Le he puesto una estrella más porque Amazon se porta bien y me ha devuelto el dinero. A favor diré que viene muy bien empaquetada, por lo que dudo que se haya desconfigurado durante el viaje, y la desprecinté con sumo cuidado. Al final es un producto caro, aunque por unos 50 euros no la habría devuelto y me la habría comido sin poder cambiar de línea. Pero por casi 200 euros, espero ya un producto de más calidad, como una cafetera superautomática, un reloj smartwatch, etc... por ese precio hay productos funcionales de calidad y la máquina entiendo que debe de ser funcional, no es un objeto de colección ni decorativo. Básicamente ese es el problema que tenía mi máquina. Cuando tiras de la palanca para cambiar de línea, no te la cambia, o sea, te escribe encima. Y no lo hago mal porque "a veces", sí funciona, igual le habré dado 20 veces y en una de ellas sí le ha dado a la máquina por bajar una línea. La opción si no pudiera devolverla era bajar línea "a ojo" tirando de la ruleta, con lo cual cada línea tendría un espacio diferente dependiendo de nuestra precisión... En resumidas cuentas: un absoluto desastre y no he encontrado otra por Amazon, por eso me decidí a comprarla, además ha bajado de precio. Creo que era mucho más cara hace un tiempo, creo que están intentando quitárselas de encima.

I spent a lot of time going back and forth over whether or not to get an old original typewriter or this new one. The reviews are really all over the place which made it even more difficult. In the end of course you can see I purchased this one! It's brand new, clean and does 12x12 papers. It's a solid machine with metal parts other than the cover which is a hard plastic. I haven't had any issues with the tape or the keys. It types nice, clean and straight and it has all the same features that an original typewriter has. If you've never used a typewriter before - yes you have to type hard, no the font will not perfect like a computer but that's the beauty of it! :) I comes with one black/red tape already installed and I can't wait to try all the other colours. If you've been debating like I was I totally recommend you give this one a try!
