I bought these red LED lights (168R) for the two map lights in my 2007 Tacoma. I decided on red LED lights because: 1) they look cool 2) they aren't as blindingly bright as white LEDs 3) everyone knows zombies can't see red light 4) they look cool Even though these red LEDs are still quite bright, they don't blind me at night. In a pinch I can even drive down the road with them on; though I don't know how legal that would be. Preserving my vision at night is a great thing and being able to see inside the cab is a handy capability. As for reading actual maps, red light makes it a sucky task at best. Many roads on paper maps are marked in red which completely disappear under red light (see pictures). For those of us weirdos still using paper maps; do not buy these for map reading purposes... Though reading a book with black text is certainly doable. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, these red LEDs will render you completely invisible to the undead hordes while you read your favorite novel. With these energy-saving LED map lights, you'll be left in peace for hours as the zombie carnage unfolds outside your vehicle. As for the coolness factor of these red LED map lights, my 2007 Tacoma has passed 10 and entered the threshold of... "11". I like to just turn them on, marvel at the rich color and contemplate the passage of time (among other mind-bending topics).

These are the brand you should go for when it comes to LED bulbs as they last for a very long time. I have not had one blow yet!

Used as map lights on an overhead console. They are really bright and are a perfect replacement for the 168 socket.

Not the brightest, but very good quality. No exposed electronics. Should last much longer in an automotive application.

I was very impressed with these bulbs. They are significantly brighter than the stock bulbs and they only use 0.6 watts. They were also brighter than the red 1156 leds that I purchased for another light on my car. They produce a very intense red light. They are kind of expensive, but they seem to be high quality.

Said it was a 2 pack and only one came. Paid $33 for on little bulb. I am upset, pls help
