Spicewalla Masala Indian Spice 6 Pack | Chai Masala, Tandoori Masala, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, Chai Masala, Madras Curry Powder | Non-GMO, Indian Spices Gift Set

I purchased the Spicewalla Indian Spice pack so I could give the product a try, and determine if I want to buy it again, perhaps in a larger size. I am unfamiliar with most Indian spices, and just looking for new ways to make food taste better. For anyone on a budget, the spices may seem a little pricey compared to some of the other online or store-bought spices, however, I am paying for a special blend made by a chef, these spices are used in their restaurants, and available here for the rest of us as well. The spices taste good! I like that the spices are non-GMO since I buy only organic or non-GMO products. There is concern about spices, especially after reading the Consumer Reports article about the amount of lead found in ground cinnamon. According to CR, one of the safest cinnamon brands is 365 Whole Foods Market organic ground cinnamon. (available on amazon, at least in my state). Back to Spicewalla, I have been using the Mardras Curry Powder in rice and other hot meals. I have used the Golden Milk mixed in cold milk (almond or soy, my preference) along with adding some Pyure organic stevia sweetener as I have a sweet tooth, and it is yummy good! The tins are so cute, and recyclable, but I may save them just for their decorative effect. I have the spices displayed on a clear, lucite spice rack on my kitchen counter, away from the heat of the stove. These spices would also make a very nice gift, especially considering they also come in BBQ, Mediterranean, traditional, etc. as I am always looking for gift ideas.

I wanted to try vegan food with an Indian spice flare. After ordering these seasonings my relationship with food has been heighten to a maximum level of satisfaction! I even use the seasonings when cooking soul food and my gosh its amazing! The flavors of each season provides the strong citrus and aromatic smells that defines Indian food!!!! These are a must have in the cabinets.

I have used almost all of these spice blends several times now, and the flavors are bright and fresh. I really love the Tandoori Masala in a vegetable stir fry with batons of paneer. Several of these make fabulous egg and cheese sandwiches, as well!

The only thing about this item which made me give it four rather than five stars is the packaging. I would prefer a regular screw top jar rather than a tin. The spices are packed into cellophane type plastic bags and it is awkward to open up and put them back into the metal canisters. I assume that this is to keep products consistent and fresh however I simply poured my spices directly into the tin from the plastic bag insert. The spices themselves are 5/5 stars. Great buy!
