UPDATE: THE BEST INSECT/RODENT DETERRENT EVER! BUY IT AND PUT YOUR MIND AT EASE
I'm updating my review: I LOVE THIS STUFF AND NOTHING ELSE WORKS LIKE IT. It's easy. As mentioned below they state STEM may need reapplication, but not that often. And, a little goes a long long way. Plus, because the price is right, you can continue to purchase it as you need it. Critters really hate it and go away. It is so worth it. If you spray them they die immediately but I don't care if they die. I just want them to stay away and they do! The smell is overwhelming and I don't care! The scent alone DETERS anything from insects to rodents. It keeps me from having to set traps. It keeps me from using neurotoxin sprays. I love it and wish it didn't smell so strong but THAT'S WHY IT WORKS!!! It's only essential oils and it is all natural. After the third yellow sac spider (and he seemed well-fed) landed in my bed, I had - had enough. I give a quick SPURT anywhere I might see a cobweb or in corners and on the ceiling fan ...because they seem to like it up there, dopes. Regardless, the smell alone is a deterrent! Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't see them at all! Wouldn't it be nice if they just stayed away? I don't mind reapplication because it doesn't take much. A SPRITZ DOES THE TRICK. Thankfully the price is right or I would look into other options but the lemongrass in this product is despised by spiders and rodents. A small spritz and your whole room will be a deterrent. I would now like to get some sleep and think I will. I don't like seeing creatures and I don't want them around. This keeps them away in the first place! Isn't that what you want? Don't hesitate. Don't bother with ant traps. Use this and repeat the usage until it stops. You can use traps outside the house, if you have more trouble. It does leave a horribly oily residue so don't spray it anywhere you can't wipe down later. That's the only drawback and it's not a big one. Despite the fact that this may need reapplication, it's surprising how well it works. I had to leave one of the homes unoccupied for quite a while (years). I bought this for ants, but was surprised to find that some mice had also taken up residence in the basement. I would spray and although the scent would dissipate, it actually took some time... Longer than they say on the bottle. I also found wetting cardboard, cotton balls or anything absorbent could be placed in various locations and that makes for easy cleanup. I'd simply spray again, and eventually, it seemed they did not want to come back. As far as the ants go, they are dead on contact. All I needed to do was find the general location where they were coming from and it was over. One small word of caution, if you are sensitive to smells, you won't get away scott-free. It may be natural but a little goes a long way. Overspraying, was overwhelming. It gave me headaches. IT WAS STILL WORTH IT! Don't overspray.

Works better than the rest
I had a pretty extensive fly infestation after bringing my outside plants inside for the winter. This product not only did everything it says, but smells great. It leaves a slight oil film on a surface but easy to clean up, it also smells fantastic. A little goes a long way. Pet friendly under supervision, I have 3 dogs and 4 rabbits and just ventilated the room (with a screened window) and avoided their beds, etc. I’m purchasing a second bottle for a backup!

Effective, but with some draw backs
This stuff does what it says it will do, but it has some draw backs. First it's oily/sticky and leaves a residue behind. Not a big deal if you don't need to spray cabinet shelving and countertops, but most people who have an ant problem need to do exactly that. Next is the odor. It's not wholely unpleasant, but it is entirely strong. First day of use we actually had to open up the windows because it was still incredibly strong after a few hours. Did it kill the ants? Yes. Did they stay gone? Of course not. It isn't designed for long term prevention, so if you need that, I'd suggest finding that elsewhere. This product is for short term maintenance. It kills *almost* on contact. The result is not "instant." At least, not on these Florida ants, but then, everything in this state seems to be a mutant with super powers lol Overall, for the price, if you just need to quickly kill off some intruding pests, this is a solid purchase. Just don't buy it expecting it to be a long term or permanent fix to your bug problem.

It works like magic!
WOW! This works like magic! I have ants that like to colonize inside my beloved books on the shelf that acts as the headboard to my bed! Two or three sprays with this product, and the ants died instantly. The ants did not revive, and new ants have not returned. In the kitchen, I can set out a little piece of juicy fruit in the sink, and when fruit flies are crawling over it by the hoards, one spray will kill thousands! This time of year (summer & fall), we have fruit pieces landing in our trash, so of course the fruit flies follow. Lifting the lid of the trash can bring on a swarm of fruit flies in the face. But two sprays in the can, close the lid, and no more flies in the face when opening the trash lid. This product suggests not spraying flies in the air. But once they land, they don't have a chance if I am nearby holding my bottle of STEM spray. I really am happy with this product and I keep a bottle in my bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. The smell is tolerable to me, especially knowing it is non-toxic. And it dissipates anyway after a while. I highly recommend this product.

Extermination of all flies
I went out of my way to write this review because this product is THAT magical. I was dealing with a fruit fly infestation that had lasted TWO MONTHS. They were coming up the drains from another apartment. They were horrific and relentless, even following me into my bedroom to swarm my face as I tried to sleep. I tried other sprays that worked... kind of. One with thymol, for instance. But it was aerosol and asphyxiating me when I sprayed it in the quantities needed to kill these wretched things. I got this stuff and I swear with two minutes, the infestation in my sink was *gone*. I have a few stragglers here and there hanging out in places where I can't safely spray, but the satisfaction of watching the vast majority of them die has made up for that. For its intended purpose, I have not found something better and that which will not leave you afraid of inhaling it. Now, it has a very strong smell. I don't find it pleasant, but it's not so bad that I won't use it. It's a lemongrass smell that's not quite so refreshing as lemongrass alone. It also leaves behind an oily residue. I knew it said "slippery", but this is... really oily. The bright side is that you can see exactly where you sprayed it and therefore need to wipe it up. Get some soap and a sponge and things will clean up. The smell and the oil are absolutely worth it to me because it has exterminated the infestation that was literally discouraging me from even going into my kitchen. I tried EVERYTHING that was safe for my cat before that. This is the only thing that's worked. 10/10, recommend fully.

Messy, doesn't do everything claimed, but best remedy for drain flies so far.
I bought this to control drain flies, also known as fruit flies. Stem is advertised to kill flies on contact and to keep the mean little buggers away. My experience has been that it stuns and kills on contact most of the time, but if you spray your trash basket with this, it won't keep the flies out, in fact the cheeky little bastards will land on the Stem bottle with no apparent harm. It is also incredibly oily, and leaves stains on indoor painted surfaces. I think that these small flies are quick enough to "hear" the spray coming at them, and sometimes they are quick enough to escape the area with minimum contact with the spray. I plan to keep this product on hand, because I have found that these flies are not nearly as smart as your common housefly, and will let you get withing 3 to 6 inches of them. Then, if you just make a quick small jerk on the trigger lever, you leave a minimum amount of messy oil and it knocks the little buggers for a loop. I get a kick out of it when I see dead little bodies all over the floor after giving them a quick shot of Stem on the ceiling.

Works quickly but doesn’t last long
5 stars for the fact that this really is effective in clearing out ants quickly and it’s safe for my kids and birds. Summer in AZ is brutal for ants…whenever we think we’ve gotten rid of them, they come back 10 fold. Professional treatment, at best, will get rid of about 80% of the colonies, but with millions of ants per colony, you still get stragglers. I’ve purchased anything from ant baits (inside and outside), to gels, to sprays, to grouts and sealers (which carpenter ants tend to chew through anyway). This is the only thing that keeps them from entering. Our rental is dated and has lots of decay that isn’t visible, so we see anything from carpenter to sugar ants. They get in everywhere…Miserable. I spray this nightly in the nooks I know the ants get in from otherwise our kitchen and pantry would literally be infested in the mornings. It is very oily, which is a blessing and a curse. The oil keeps the spray there long enough where at least in the morning, if there starts to be signs of ants, they’re slowed down and I can spray again. It’s extremely slippery…even if you spray on the floor and then clean afterwards, residue is still present. I generally clean with Clorox, which seems to bind the oil well enough. Yay for chemicals! While it does kill the ants, it only works on the ants that are visible. Once they smell the spray, they’re slowed down and stay away, but return as soon as the smell dissipates. I did wish it lasted longer, but with the ant problem we deal with, I’ll take whatever remedy is offered. I’ve purchased this 4 times now and will definitely be buying more in the future.

Good stuff, Maynard.
This is the best insect spray I have come across. One shot at bug, wait a few seconds and bang! Dead bug. One shot of spray and bugs go down. I have indoor dogs and cats, so, I looked for something toxic free. I'm fixing to subscribe to stem especially since I renewed my lease and lease states I'm responsible for bug extermination. Only wish they'd sell it in larger refill container. ✌🏽
