"PharmaGABA™ is naturally-sourced, bioidentical GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). It is made via a process where the amino acid glutamic acid (glutamate) is fermented using Lactobacillus hilgardii, the beneficial bacteria also used to ferment many foods including the vegetables in kimchi." Studies with synthetic GABA have shown that it is not clinically effective. It may not be able to bind to receptor sites like natural GABA due to minor differences in shape. Bio-identical means the same shape as the natural biological form. (Unlike the synthetic form.)
