Great, Simply Great
I upgraded my network at home to a fiber optic network. I have a ubiquiti system. My existing gateway would not work with fiber. I reasearched it and found that it was an existing problem. Also, my research said this was the product that was the fix. So I finally ordered it and installed it last night. Installation was simple. Initially the system would not adopt it, but I reset it and the adoption process was easy. I had been using my existing ubiquiti system with the third party router for the fiber. Once I got this piece of equipment, I was able to start using my cloud key again. The system immediately updated all the devices and then the system was ready to go. The speeds for my network were noticably faster with the addition of this piece of equipment. Satisfied customer.

Commercial grade networking equipment...
I moved my law firm to a new building and wanted to upgrade the network security appliance (a Fortinet 60E). I liked my old Fortinet for what it was, but I disliked the annual threat management fees and having to handle the nitty gritty of routing and monitoring the logs. Enter this Ubiquity USG-Pro-4 which provides reasonable Unified Threat Management features and an extremely robust software/hardware controller system that makes remote monitoring and configuration much easier. For small to medium size businesses, this is an excellent choice. For home users that want to ditch their minimally secure combo routers/wifi units (i.e. NetGear stuff you get at BestBuy), this is a solid choice. Don't expect it to be as user friendly (with step-by-step wizards) as a consumer grade router/switch. However, you can expect it to be much more secure if it is configured properly.

AMAZON DID NOT HONOR ITS REFUND POLICY
I was sent a defective product that didn’t work. When I promptly returned it, I was charged a $149.99 “Refund distribution processing” fee and was only refunded $10 on my $160 payment for a defective product. If this is a new Amazon policy, I will order merchandise elsewhere

Big improvement over the entry level model
First, the good. This is significantly better than the entry level USG. I had to upgrade as I got a faster internet connection. The smaller model would max out around 200Mbps with most of the features turned off and hardware offload enabled. This model still requires most features disabled, but I'm able to hit 500mbps to 600mbps on it. Turning on the threat management significantly slows the device. Ubiquiti has a higher end model (XG) that was pulled from the market due to problems for a bit. I'm hoping they get that product back out and also add something in between this PRO model and the XG or bump the specs. A gigabit connection couldn't run on this model and it's obvious that the PRO isn't powerful enough for heavy workloads even at 500Mbps. I really like the management features on unifi gear and it's the big selling point. It was pretty easy to upgrade from the smaller USG to the pro model also. I do hope they get a slightly faster model out and consider upgrading to 2.5Gbps nbase-T connectivity so one doesn't have to jump to fiber connections for moderate performance. If you were using a connection up to say 300Mbps, most of the features would work and you'd be pretty happy with this. I just don't think it's ready for 500Mbps to gigabit speeds. Finally, the IPv6 support on this device is mediocre. Part of the problem is the upstream router from my cable provider, but the IPv6 supports feels like an afterthought and is a little irritating to try to setup. Documentation is lacking in this area. I can get an IP address on the WAN interface, but have never been able to get it to assign an IP to the inside network. If you need IPv6 functionality, it might be better to go with another product.

Very easy to setup, works great
Works nearly automatically, out of the box. The UI is clean and easy to use; no complex CLI required; spent enough years doing that with Cisco products, I'm over it. ;-) Love all the features and flexibility it offers. Great for an SMB office with its own Internet connection.

Best products ever made..... worth the investment believe me
Love unifi/ubiquity products - best WiFi experience possible is what is provided without the wasted money on Netgear or Linksys junk. A little more involved for the novice home network consumer but easy to learn if you are willing.

For those with Ubiquiti products
Although setup is not for those without patience or an understanding of networking, this is a very informative console to manage the configured gateway.

price increases
These have been increasing in price. The UDMP just isn't up to the job that some of our deployments need. The USG Pro handles dualWAN load balance and guest wifi. Until the UXG Pro is readily available, these will be on the shelf.

Ill start with a few points for the entry level prosumer: Firstly, there is no wireless capability, this is not a modem, router and ap, its is just a router, a good one but just a router. You will need your own access points (all the unifi range work perfectly with it) in order to get a wireless connection and you will want a switch unless you are not connecting more than 2 devices. If you are using the router with ubiquiti switches (Switch 8 150w and above) then make sure to link them (if short enough distance) with SFP, the reduction in latency is frankly impressive, especially with fiber modules. The router is a beast, handling our symmetric gigabit line with ease. Config is easy as always with UniFI's SDN control system (can be run off old pc) i would however reccommend the cloud key gen 2/gen2+ due to the huge power savings over extended lengths of time. These devices can handle upwards of 50 unifi devices so are more than enough for a household, if using for buisness then may be worth utilising unifi application server or a full time server. Having a cloud key is not needed past initial setup however the data collection and retention has helped with troubleshooting and has saved my butt more times than i care to mention. The fans in the unit aren't loud but they aren't silent. Would recommend rack mounting in cabinet with ventilation and sound dampening OR in a cupboard/room that is not slept/worked in. I have one running next to my workstations and got used to the subtle hum after a few days but may depend on your setup. The build quality is perfect, nothing needs to be said but ill run over it quickly; The rack ears are sturdy and able to hold unit well (dont skimp out with 2 mounts, use all 4 provided). the chassis is sturdy, full metal and is slightly thinner than the 1u slot meaning that when mounted it has some space to "breath" overall incredible product, have deployed over 450 of these accross uk, 100% recommended.
