Worked exactly as we'd hoped.
Just received these two extenders and tested them out on two different Arris cable TV boxes from Verizon; one main DVR unit and one satellite unit and they both work perfectly. We now do not need to be nearly so accurate in pointing the remote controls and if there happens to be something hiding the sensor in the terminal box, operation isn't affected in any way. So far, very satisfied; recommended without hesitation, as long as they are suitable for the equipment you intend to use them with.

These things are terrible
These IR receiver extenders are terrible. Sitting only 6 feet away from the receiver, the remote has to be pointing DIRECTLY at it for it to work. Even pointing the remote at a 10 degree angle away from the receiver, it stops working. And yes, I've put new batteries in my remote to make sure it's not just a weak signal from the remote. Before I moved the cable box, it's built-in IR receiver was basically in the same spot this extender is in now, and with the built-in sensor the remote would work all the way across the room, and even when the remote was pointing almost 90 degrees away from the cable box!

Realized I was wrong to fail this product. It is just incompatible for me, so I'm changing my feedback.

Bargain price works great
In the photo, it is mounted to the underside of the shelf the receiver is on. It is in a cabinet that obscures the built-in IR port when the doors are closed. Mounting the external IR receiver here allows us to control the receiver when the doors to the cabinet are closed. They have a glass section the IR unit is visible behind. This things works great, though it seems to have a narrow width for detecting the remote. However, this was not a limitation for us. I'd order these again if I ever needed any additional units. (You get two in the package, making the price a real bargain)

Did NOT work with my Denon Receiver (AVR-X1300W)
I bought this to use with my Denon AV Receiver (AVR-X1300W). But it did NOT work. Buyers beware.

Just what I needed!
This device allows me to watch cable without having to keep the doors opened on my cabinet. Works exactly as advertised.

Frequent return BUT it may not be the problem.
I have a Russound TVA2.1 amplifier fed by optical output from the TV. The original IR receiver stopped working. Could get this next day and it has the same plug configuration. Thought it would be a winner. But, it's not working either. The amp works "except" I cannot adjust volume. Will search for something else. Maybe call the OEM. UPDATE: HERFAIR contacted me due to return. Top notch! I have found my problem is likely the receiver, not the IR receptor. I changed rating from 1 to 5 due to their outreach and the problem isn't with their product.

Quality and time
The worst product I’ve ever seen on Amazon so far. Very late and Gus’s what I bought two of them none of them work what a useless and waste of time and quality!! Definitely not recommended
