It's just like the one that I took out....
I bought this to replace an identical one in the bilge of our sailboat. It went into place with no problems. There's a flat spot on the bottom for you to apply your 3M 5200 adhesive, which is how my old one was attached. I cleaned the bilge really well, applied the adhesive, and put something heavy on top of the switch case. When I returned the next day, I hooked up the wires (easy) and it started right up. Unlike my old one, it shut down when the bilge level was drawn down to about a half-inch. Perfect. As boat maintenance goes, this was really simple, and I don't have to worry about a continually-running bilge pump bricking my battery. We'll mark this down as a win.

High quality and works as advertised
I always use Rule pumps and switches on my boat because I think they are best made and are the most reliable. SeaRay installs them originally. They cost more than most, but maybe it's because of the quality. You can easily sink your boat if a pump or switch fails. Even though I think they are priced high, it's worth the money knowing they are reliable.

Float switch is a silent operator
The float switch is a silent operator. It merely energizes your bilge pump if the water level reaches a certain level, then shuts it off after the pump does its job. A float switch can save your boat from sinking. It’s certainly saved mine on occasion.

Works for me....Amazon.com
I had read a few negitive reviews of this product so I tested it thourghly prior to installation. The main concern was that it might have had negitive reviews due to the float switch hanging up on the housing. I inspected the action of the float switch and could not find anything that would cause it to hang either in the open or closed position. For this installation I needed a protected housing around the float switch since it was in an area where other objects could possibly fail and block the float. I repeatedly turned the switch upside down to activate the switch and submerged the switch in water. Everything worked as expected. I rated this a 4 since it worked under my test. Siince it is connedted to a secondary bilge pump I will not know how well it works in real conditions unless the water gets pretty high in the boat...I never wnat to hear this pump go off!

Exact replacement
Purchased for a dead float switch for the aft pump in my boat. Same size, brand, wiring, everything. Remove the old one, drop this one in, and presto should the need arise (I hope not) my bilge pump will work by itself. Sure there not 15 bucks anymore, but why chance it with something that "may" work on your expensive boat. In fact install 2, just in case, cheap insurance when your miles out in the great blue. Yes you do have to wire them, so a bit of know how is important, so don't blame the switch for a bad install. In my reviews most of them are highly rated as I look for what I need, prior to buying, and are based on that fact (price/requirement/use). I've not had to contact the seller for any issues or claims, however would not hesitate to purchase this product, or from this seller again.

I had to buy this as a replacement. The old unit would rise on the water level and as the float dropped it would not turn off the pump. If they were to make the float valve easy access then regularly maintenance could have been carried out to clear scale build up on float switch . Easy to fit . Comes with a lengthy power lead

Well it works, so far, but this is the third of these switches in 8 years I have had to replace due to the same failure that saw the pump running constantly. I just wish they upped the quality even if it cost more as it is located in a hard to reach position. Best not to make this switch in China perhaps.
