It is delicious, no doubt. But it comes at a high price. When discounted, it is somewhat acceptable.

Good quality prawns

For the first time I purchased the ITC Master Chef Medium Size Prawns. I found the quality of the Prawns to be very good and at a reasonable price tag. The vacuum sealed package was of an high standard keeping the prawns fresh. Today I ordered more of these prawns. I have also been purchasing other ITC Master Chef items (all from Amazon Fresh) and found all the products to be of high quality at a reasonable price. If people have still not, I will recommend they give 'ITC Master Chef' products a try - You will be happy that you did! :-)

The prawns themselves are decent - they have a fresh taste, cook well, and are properly cleaned, which saves time. The medium size is versatile for curries or stir-fries. However, the packet contains fewer prawns than I expected for the price. While the quality is reliable, the quantity makes it less economical for a family meal. It’s a convenient product for a quick cook, but I’ve found better value in local fresh markets or larger frozen packs. Good for occasional use, but not an everyday buy.

However good a company is, when prawns are concerned you MUST MUST MUST check every single one to make sure that the black thread (sand filled intestine) on the back (dorsal) outer upper side of the prawn is ENTIRELY removed. If it remains even partially, it can easily cause diarrhoea. Always check each and every one near the tail portion.

Product is clean and hygienic. More like shrimp than prawn. For 200 gms. package you will have only a handful post cooking or steaming. Need atleast 2-3 packs for a decent quantity and that makes it pricey. Prawn size is really tiny so makes sense to purchase the large size prawn pack which will again make it an expensive treat.
