New kitchen staple
I ordered this because I like green tea. I like hot brewed, then chilled green tea. I didn't really have a tea pot to call my own, so I was just using a sauce pan to boil water, like momma used to make. It was pretty inefficient, plus had the added benefit of cracking a glass pitcher when I forgot my basic high school physics. When I ordered this, it was a whim, I think I had enough points on my credit card to get it for free, so I figured I'd give it a go. Since then it's been set up on my kitchen counter and used frequently. The read out is very easy to read, and the controls are quite intuitive and well labeled. For those of you who, like me, enjoy something but they don't really know the ins and outs of making it, there are a number of handy setting to set the temp to recommended levels for whatever type of beverage you're steeping. Push the button, wait for the water to heat (quicker than a stove top), then put your favorite leafy items in the handy hole in the lid and cap it off to let it steep. You can even set it to hold warm for you, if you prefer your hot beverages... well, hot. The infuser is removable from the lid, so if you just want to heat up some water, you can do that too. It also has a handy chart to tell those of us tea duffers how much leaf to use for the amount of water (which can be seen by looking at the very distinct volume markers on the pitcher. I gave this thing 5 stars, because I do think it's a great product, but dinged it on the easy to clean. The pitcher has a lot of electronics on it. It looks like the heating element is built in. Because of this, they recommend that you don't submerge it to clean it, which means basically wiping out the pitcher, and occasionally running it through the recommended descaling process. The infuser basket is basically a metal tube with holes in it, which gets the job done, but because of the size, it can be a bit of a struggle to get all of the particulates out of it. Being detachable helps though. Overall though, this thing does what it says it does, does it well, and is very convenient to have around. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a countertop water heater and leaf steeper.

Fast and offers lots of choice
I am really loving this Mecity Tea Kettle. I like to choose temps and it comes with 9 presets you can scroll through, or you can set your own temp. And then it has a 2-hour keep warm feature that works great. It remembers what it was doing when you take the kettle off to pour and set it back down. You can turn off the beeper, which is nice. I think I have to do it again if I unplug it. The tea insert is great because the mesh or the holes in the metal are very fine and the tube reaches quite low in the pot. Sure beats the click and boil versions of electric tea kettles. The only thing it seems that you cannot do is change the Keep Warm time to less than 2 hours. There are kettles that allow you to change the Keep Warm time from a default. I don't see it in the instructions on this one and I haven't figured anything out. But, that's okay with me and I love it. Also, it holds a lot of water. One tip: If you are planning on heating water and then steeping tea, you need to put the tea insert on (it attaches to the inside/underside of the lid) BEFORE you heat up your water. Then you just open the small tea-access lid to drop your loose-leaf or bags into the tea infuser. Then you just wait. Or you can set the Keep Warm to a specific temperature - to the DEGREE. I hope you like yours, too!

I love this thing!
Good capacity, and I love the strainer insert it comes with. The keep warm setting is immensely helpful. You can choose one of the preset temperatures or set your own custom temp for keeping warm. It takes about 10 minutes for the full 7 cups to come to a boil, less time for less water of course. I bought this to replace an older metal kettle after its contacts with the electric plate wore out too much to be fixed. It's not as fast as my previous one but that was expected as the wattage is lower on this, plus the glass. I was worried about the glass at first (I've lost glass french presses before....RIP.) but it seems pretty sturdy. Has good weight to it. Over months of frequent use, and the keeping warm of many pots of coffee and tea, the bottom metal plating does discolor over time where the heating element is, but honestly that's to be expected. It's not rust, like some people have said but discoloration from the minerals in the water being heated along with tannins from the coffee and tea. So if you have water that's a bit on the harder side, be aware it will discolor. It hasn't affected the performance or flavor at all.
