Impressed
This took down a 22" gum and I bent the bar while bucking (it was my first day). While waiting on a replacement I got a Stihl 271 (I've got a lot of storm damaged trees). This little beauty is my pack with and minor cut champ. After using both for a full day I can tell you the DeWalt is kinder on you, but has battery limitations. Power wise it's pretty decent and is phenomenal in ground work where you'll do a cut, then position awhile and so on. I'll fire up the Sthil about 10 times over a day, but use the DeWalt well over 100 individual cuts. I would equate the ease of use to to why golf carts are preferred over stick shifts in a lot of places, this is just fun. Great tool for what it is and invaluable for anyone, be they weekend warrior or home steader. For those of us not up to Wranglestar status this is a great back up for the gas powdered and can charge batteries off a solar panel. If you're clearing debris or heating your home this is a great tool and piece of mind. It is pretty liberal with the bar oil discharge, I'd recommend storing with that in mind.

Love this chainsaw!
This is a good chainsaw for light work such as trimming off branches from a trunk or cutting up small trees. Make sure you keep the chain oiled.

It's An Amazing Saw... If You Know What It's Intended For
For weeks, I went back-and-forth deciding whether to buy a traditional gas chainsaw or this Dewalt cordless model. I don't have a ton of trees to maintain, but the ones I do have are sizable (around 18" diameter). So I decided to give this chainsaw a try and I haven't regretted it. You're not going to cut cords of firewood with this thing because the battery overheats with constant use, and the batteries won't last for hours. However, if your cutting is somewhat limited to smaller jobs, this saw is great. It definitely gets the job done and the supplied chain is sharp and lasts. Dewalt didn't skimp on the chain. It's not a light duty chainsaw either. Yes, the battery life is limited, but this thing cuts and cuts well like a decent prosumer gas powered chainsaw. Would buy again.

Overall good but there is a gear issue
Overall a good chainsaw, although I wish I would have gone with the 20" but it cuts well and for my peace of mind, battery powered is the way to go. I use it to cut cedar and white oak primarily and it'll cut through those no problem. One thing good is that it doesn't leak oil like the 12" that I bought previously. The ONLY complaint is that the tension gear doesn't stand up to normal use. You can see a few teeth have been knocked off. The replacement part is is about $15 including shipping. Hopefully it'll last a bit longer.

Works great
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son. Extremely easy to use for small to medium trees. Does not work well with small brush such as mountain laurel. We had a lot of clean up to do from Hurricane Helene. Will need several batteries on hand as the due not last too long.

I'm so disappointed. This saw is garbage.
I have about 8 Dewalt cordless tools, I even have the older model 16" 60v chainsaw. My old chainsaw has been through some serious crap. I'm not exaggerating if I say I've felled over 50 trees with it. It's been beaten, hit, dropped and even left out in the rain. Eventually the handle broke, the molded plastic, and I don't think there's a fix, so I ordered the new "upgraded" model. The DCCS672B. Here is my honest review. The good... Like the old saw it will cut through a 20" cherry tree in no time. It's got power, it's got torque, it's quiet and it's light. The bad: 1) I have about 3 hours on the saw and the chain tensioner just broke 2) with the older model and with most gas powered chainsaws, you typically use the chain adjuster when you install a new chain, or sometimes if you've run it for hours. With this model, DCCS672B, I find the chain loose about every 5 minutes. I spend more time adjusting the chain than cutting. 3) The design of the chain sprocket is absolutely stupid. The bottom of the sprocket has no guard or washer, so the chain constantly slips off the sprocket and down underneath it. I cant cut and delimb a single tree without having to open the saw up at least once, sometimes more, to reinstall the chain because it's slipped under the sprocket. The chain sprocket on my old saw was worn and the handle broke. I just bought a sprocket replacement for the old saw and I'll try my luck with crazy glue or some kind of plastic adhesive to fix the handle. The new saw already has a warranty claim open with Dewalt, I've owned the saw for 5 weeks, and fingers crossed, maybe the fix it properly and it becomes my backup saw. But the old Dewalt is absolutely going to be my primary saw again. They just don't make them like they used to. Shame on you Dewalt, this saw is crap.

Legit chainsaw
I've had a Stihl 18" gas chainsaw for over 5 years and obviously electric isn't QUITE the same...... But this saw is absolutely legitimate. I needed a gas saw for property maintenance, but these days it's just light trimming on residential projects. So I wanted something easier to pack without the hassle of bringing gas and oil. The 16" had great reviews but I went with the 18" because I have a handful of spare chains for a farm boss bar. This thing exceeded my expectations in every way. I pulled it out of the box, plugged in a battery, and tore through 11" × 24" of cedar in about 2 seconds. Didn't even add bar oil 😆😆😆 It sounds wimpy at first (but I'm used to the roar of a gas saw)..... Rest assured, it does not cut wimpy. I'll file the dogs on this chain and buy another boss bar before I use it heavily.... But 5 stars all around. Nicely done dewalt Not sure about safety or battery life but I'm gonna assume 5 stars on both metrics based on the other 30ish Dewalt tools that I own. ... But without a doubt it's lightweight and powerful enough

Great Saw
I bought this chainsaw for my husband as a Christmas gift. I was skeptical at first about buying a battery operated chainsaw. I grew up in a generation where two strokes were the only way to go even with their unreliability. I’ll have to admit that this chainsaw exceeded my expectations. It’s lightweight, easy to use and has a great battery life. We ran it for a solid 20 minutes cutting large tree limbs and barely put a dent in the battery usage. It’s a great value for this battery chainsaw. Great function and easy to maneuver.
