Favourite walking boots
The best boots for dry weather. Choose 0.5 larger UK size than you usually wear. Left to right in my photos are the same Merrell Moab Ventilators (no Goretex membrane) bought in 2019, 2022 and the new pair of 2026, the 2026 version is actually Moab-3. The first two pairs were used hard, and the oldest pair was also used in garden, construction and auto DIY work after a replacement was bought in 2022. So, they are robust, and damage is limited to sole/insole wear, although both are still usable, and a superficial tear of the lining at the upper edge at the back. In winter of 2021 I also had Moab GTX (with Goretex membrane), but they started leaking within two months, the black patch in front cracked in the following winter (on the outer side), and they were unbearably hot in summer. So, the simplest Moab Ventilators are my favourite. They are comfortable, well cushioned, supportive, and not hot in any summer adventure, including English, Scottish, Welsh, French and Spanish forests/hills/mountains, but all in dry weather. For wet or snow one needs a different boot anyway. The new Moab-3 are slightly different from the first model, their left and right walls are now weaker, the sole is less technical, but the area of breathable mesh is increased. Recycled materials are now used in the upper webbing, inner lining and laces, which cuts their service expectancy from 4 down to about 2 years, doubles the customer costs and pollution per item of the product. The old two pairs were alright for driving a car, not sure about the new Moab-3, as its sole is basic and does not allow the same feel of the pedals. I wish I could buy the original model, but it is now discontinued.

What a great boot
I had worn my previous Karimoor walking boots into the ground and now was the time to replace them. I was just delving into my new foot are phase and diligently researched all types of walking boots/shoes, within my budget of course. I would read reviews and then check the price on some and think I could but a second hand runaround car for the same price as some of those shoes, you know the ones I'm talking about, the ones made of yak skin that have been made by wizards in DUMB's. So after doing my research I took a chance on the Merrell bad boys and am so pleased I made this choice. Sturdy, solid comfort, and they look great too. Only thing I would question is the waterproofness of them, maybe I need to dub them up, I'll try this and report back. Other than that I would say go for it, go for Merrell.

Fits true-to-size, good ventilation, good all round summer shoe.
The Merrell Moab 3 is an excellent choice for anyone in need of a durable and comfortable walking shoe. The Vibram sole provides exceptional traction on a variety of terrains, making it a reliable option for both wet and dry conditions. The shoe offers great support, ensuring stability and comfort even on longer walks. It fits true-to-size, which eliminates the guesswork when ordering online. The relatively lightweight design is a plus, while it does offer support, it doesn’t feel overly bulky or cumbersome during use. Additionally, the shoe’s ventilation system does a great job of keeping feet cool, even in warmer weather. Overall, the Moab 3 is a solid investment for outdoor enthusiasts. With its combination of support, traction, and breathability, it’s a versatile shoe that delivers on performance and comfort. Highly recommended. I use it as my daily wear in the summer.

GREAT HIKING SHOES FOR EVERY DAY USE, VERY COMFORTABLE
I bought these for my partner who has had a pair before. Absolutely loves them and seems to wear nothing else! He says they are smart, comfortable, durable, easy to put on and that perfect cross between a trainer and a walking boot. They seem to last a long time too.

The most comfortable walking shoes I've ever owned!
I've been buying merrell moabs for years and recently bought a moab 3. Initially, I was skeptical as they were slightly different than the previous version, but after wearing them for a few minutes you quickly realise how perfect they are. I'm a bit of an awkward half size, so these are perfect for me. The sole is really hard wearing and the breathable fabic means that on long summer walks my feel remain cool. Overall I'd give them a 10/10. They have crafted the perfect shoe.

Fish : the moab 3.
I have in recent months bought merrell moab2 and moab3 ,(ventilated) walking shoes. They are both excellent, very comfortable and pretty hard wearing, and well made, the size uk9 has been spot on. Okay, now the which is better, this is quite an easy answer: its the merrell moab3, because it has a far better insole, it really does feel like ur wearing a very special pair of slippers, the heal fits better, there is a wider toe box, and the sole is more flexible. Merrell moab2, these have a harder wearing sole,(300mls to 350mls) compared to the moab3 (280mls to 320mls), moab2 is a tighter fit around the sides of the foot, slightly looser on the heal fit, and tighter on the toes ! The moab2 will last a little longer under average to heavy use ! But, the moab3 is just so wonderfully comfy from the first time u put them that a little bit less mileage ! Is not really a terrible thing . Both of these shoes are not very good on wet wooden surfaces such as decking or old wooden bridges, But ! Having owned various makes of walking shoe,(keen, salmon, merrell, and even nike) unless u are paying around £250/£300 ! No standard walking shoe is very good on “wet wood” , Excellent Shoes for less than £70, these are not the waterproof moab’s !
