The Least Bad Book in the Series
You can read my other reviews to see how much I dislike the Big Ideas series, both the middle school series and the early high school series: Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. (I could go on and on about how disappointing I found it to see Ron Larson's name attached to this series when he has otherwise been associated with well-conceived and rigorous textbooks.) HOWEVER, the Big Ideas Geometry book is decent. In a nutshell, it covers all the same material as the McDougal Littell Geometry book authored by Larson, Boswell, Kanold, and Stiff. My only complaint is that it does not have nearly as many exercises from which teachers, tutors, and students can choose homework/practice problems as does the McDougal Littell book. I estimate it contains roughly half as many problems. However, the material covered is nearly identical. The newest edition has had an extra chapter (chapter 12) placed in it, covering basic statistics and probability. (Yawn. I don't know why every dang book in the Big Ideas series needs to remind students from 6th grade through 11th grade what a mean, median, and mode are.) Still, the other chapter contents are exactly what I would expect: 1. Basics of Geometry (point, plane, line, distances, angles, etc.) 2. Reasoning and Proofs 3. Parallel and Perpendicular Lines 4. Transformations 5. Congruent Triangles 6. Relationships within Triangles 7. Quadrilaterals and Other Polygons 8. Similarity 9. Right Triangles and Trigonometry 10. Circles 11. Circumference, Area, and Volume

In great condition & a big life saver for my son
In great condition & a big life saver for my son! My son is in 9th grade & I can't believe the school didn't provide a book, online access only which is very unreliable! Thank goodness for being able to purchase the book!!!
