Review: well balanced 3 mile walk, great middle mile energy, easy to follow, REAL people - I can't believe I never wrote a review for this Leslie Sansone walk at home DVD. First, I love her videos. I have only been walking with her since 2015, and I wish I would have given her stuff a try well before then. I find her walks a game changer in how much added activity I have in my day, and how much better I feel. Very functional, easy workouts that have added benefit beyond exercise. Second, I love her authentic commentary. I am not one for needing constant huge smiles, super saccharine cheer, or mega coordination. I just want it real- and this video really embraces that (her older stuff tends toward that). Different bodies, ages, levels of fitness. I love seeing everyone doing this workout at their own level of exertion. It is actually helpful to see regular folks huffing and puffing, sweating, and not always having a big smile plastered on the face. This is one that has a little more movement, particularly in the "middle mile" which is what adds great appeal. It definitely amps up the workout. High energy.. but still easy to follow! Overall I find it well balanced, and I always feel good afterward. I know many of her newer videos include a greater amount of the cliched work out enthusiasm using people already in shape (good on them, and this style is certainly appealing--but I find that I rarely grab for those videos), as well as slightly more coordination, and dance like moves. I avoid those. Give me some old school Leslie. Also.. even though some are slightly lower key, each set of moves can be modified a bit to get a bigger burn (or lesser, depending on your needs). Review: Heart pumping workout esp good for bad knees - I decided to try Leslie's "Walk at Home" dvds after developing knee problems. I'm 38 and moderately overweight. I have previously been a gym rat and was doubtful that I could get in shape (again) by "only" walking at home, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The walking speed is fast and the workout is high energy throughout. I can do the entire workout at high intensisty without my knees holding me back, whereas taebo and the biggest loser cardio workout were too much - I had to skip too many steps bc of my knees. I have grown a library of Leslie's Walk at Home dvds and trade them out to avoid boredom. I like Leslie's sunny disposition and encouragement and the miles go by quickly. I highly recommend her dvds for beginner and returning exercisers. They are a good, heart pumping and sweat inducing cardio workout that can be done at home. I add some strength moves and situps afterward to roundout my routine.

Love It!
I own four of Leslie's videos, but I have only used two so far -- both 3 mile walks. The 3 mile fast walk is nice. I like the group of individuals in the video and I think it's cute that Leslie has her daughter (and niece) working out as well. The music is pretty good and, for me, someone who walks 5 miles outside at a pretty good pace, I like it. However, it can be a little "slow" and it doesn't kick into gear until you're at mile 2. HOWEVER, this video has you going from the get go. There isn't much lag time between exercises and there's not a lot of explanation. In addition, the addition of the weights (which I wish was used throughout, but I can understand why they are not) makes this a very good workout for those of us who live in cities where it gets 100 plus degrees in the summer and the humidity is dreadful and makes it unsafe to be walking in such high heat. At least I don't want to be out in that type of weather. The workout worked up a good sweat and I felt VERY satisfied. Even though I was walking in my home, I felt like I was getting a good work. I am also working out using a kettle bell program, so between walking 7 days a week and the kettle bell workout 3 of those days as well as pilates, I think this will be just what I will need to shed about 10 pounds before an upcoming trip. Will keep you posted. I highly recommend this video.

Great second mile
For some reason I really enjoy this dvd even though the workout really could be better. The best thing about the "3 Mile Weight Loss Walk" is the fast-paced second mile led by Mary Kay. Unfortunately, her mile is sandwiched in-between Leslie's rather slow first and third miles. FYI: There is no "boosted walking" (Leslie's term for jogging) on this walk. High points: * Mary Kay's mile. She ups the pace and brings fun and energy. Her cueing is excellent. She moves with more intensity than Leslie - inspiring me to do the same. I'm never quite ready for Leslie to take back the lead on this walk. * The set. Although smaller, it is much lighter and brighter (i.e., cheerful and energizing) than the black curtained studio from the Walk Slim series. (With that said, I LOVE "Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles" and highly recommend it in spite of the dark and heavy set.) * I like the new walkers Vance and Suzette. Vance is a little like Eeyore and I find myself cheering him on. Smile, Vance, smile (he never does but he's probably just shy). Low points: * Leslie can't zip her lip and just let Mary Kay lead. I know she is being super generous to even allow one of her walkers to take the lead but, c'mon Leslie, if you're quiet for a minute I promise we won't forget that in-home walking is your baby! * As stated above, slow first and third miles. Not much time to get the heart-rate up. All in all, I'm glad I have this in my rotation. I'd say this workout is good for a beginner, a light day or as an add-on to another workout.

Und Mary Kay is in the House!

I'm getting back into exercise after many years away from it. I have mobility problems, no coordination and of course a lack of space to move around in (something most Londoners face). This three-mile walk addresses all of those issues and gives me a great warmup, workout, cooldown and strech in the space of 45 minutes. Sansone's style is friendly and supportive, and her walkers come in all sizes (something that most of us appreciate, I think). I have several of Sansone's videos and like most of them, but this is the one I use the most. It's a great start to the day.

I've been using Leslie's WATP DVD the 1 and 2 miles walk with weights and totally love them. But after a while I wanted to try and see if I could go to the 3 miles walk with something different. So I bought this DVD. WOW !!! This workout is amazing. It's the same base, same easy to learn move but it gets you even further. I sweat like I've not sweated in a long time. The second mile is teach by Mary Kay which I found to be really great and refreshing. I love Leslie's teaching but I found Mary Kay to be a bit more energetic and to push us more. So it's definitely a fast mile. Overall I enjoyed it a lot. One of my favorite workout and I just love the fact that we use the hands weight on this one. Get great toning as well as a super fun and effective cardio. Really amazing product. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get in shape.

I bought this video hoping to get inspired to start exercising again. Well, it's working! I've done the video for almost 1.5 weeks and I'm already down 6 lbs! It's easy to follow. There are no difficult or complicated moves. There is simple walking in place, knee lifts, side steps, kick backs, and walking forward and backward. Leslie is good with her timing cues and is very positive. She is not forceful or mean sounding (like Billy Blanks!). She's not too annoying either. She does chat a bit with the other walkers. The thing that really convinced me to buy this DVD was the fact that the walkers in the background are real people - not just stick figures. And some of them have lost weight with just walking - 70 lbs and 100 lbs. How inspiring is that? I also like that I can do this at home. I don't have to waste time going to a gym and taking a shower there. All in all, I recommend this DVD to anyone wanting to get in shape.

This workout was a surprise. I have two Leslie Sansone walking workouts (a 3-mile and a 5-mile) and have been very pleased with them, but when I originally looked at this workout it looked too easy. However, as with any workout, you get out of it what you put in. If you are barely lifting your feet or moving your arms then, no, you won't feel like you have worked out. But if you put some guts into it you will definitely work up a good sweat and your heart rate will go up. Still too easy, add additional weight. I consider myself to be in relatively good physical condition (I am 50 and have been working out seriously for over 3 years) and I like to alternate my workouts with Jeri Love's Get Ripped series and Jackie Warner's One-on-One Training with Jackie. This walking workout would be a great addition to anyone's workout library. Whether you are a novice, intermediate or advanced, these walking workouts are for all levels. If you have never worked out before this is a great way to start. I wish I had known about these workouts when I started training.
